Bleached Flowers

Hi everyone, I would like to share with you my card I made for the sketch challenge this week at Mojo Monday.
I stamped the flower image from the "Everything Eleanor" stamp set with Versamark Ink all over the piece of Early Espresso.  I then embossed the flowers with Black Embossing Powder before painting on some bleach on each flower.  This takes the colour out of the cardstock leaving a beautiful background piece for the bottom portion of the card which was adhered to a piece of Very Vanilla DSP.

Shabby Chic

I just love the challenge this week at The Card Concept.  I have made my card in the Shabby Chic style and have taken inspiration from DT Narelle Farrugia, I just love what Narelle did with the posy and the threads from the Burlap Ribbon, the flower box and arrangement in the picture.

For my card I have use the stamp sets 'Hardwood', 'Dictionary' and 'Itty Bitty Banners' with a colour palette of Naturals White, Baked Brown Sugar, Blushing Bride and Soft Sky.  The DSP is from the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper.  The embellishments are from the 'Artisan Embellishment Kit", Gold Sequin Trim, Pearls, Burlap Ribbon and Venetian Crochet Trim.

Bits-n-Pieces

Hi everyone, I have been making cards today using up some of my Bits-n-Pieces (these seem to have been growing at a great rate lately, so I must use them up).   I was inspired to do this using this week's sketch challenge at Retro Sketches.

This is the card I made using my Bits-n-Pieces from the Modern Medley DSP and Neutrals DSP Paper Stack.  It is amazing how far these strips and off cuts go.  I inked over some of the DSP using Baked Brown Sugar to give the Brown, Black and Cream colour theme that I was after.

While I was on a roll I also made another two cards using up my Bits-n-Pieces.  It was like doing patchwork but with paper and card, what fun.  This one was made using 1 1/4" squares mounted on 1 3/8" squares, then placed on the diagonal.

I used the new Alphabet Rotary stamp to create the sentiment on the last card.  I can see me using this a lot to create titles for my cards and also for scrapbook pages, the ideas are endless.

Mojo Monday #335

For the Mojo Monday Challenge this week I played with some of my stamps and created my own background paper using stamps from the following sets "Backyard Basics", "Flowering Flourishes", "En Francais" and "Secret Garden".  I have used a colour scheme of Basic Black, Baked Brown Sugar, Cherry Cobbler and Naturals White.

The sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamp set, embossing folder used is Perfect Polka Dots and the DSP is from the 2013-15 In Colour Paper Stack and Regals Paper Stack.  The leaves were made using the die from the Secret Garden Framelits.

Vintage Blue

Being so hot here in Perth today, I stayed indoors and played at my craft table.  These are the three cards that I made along the same theme, using the "Shop Around" Stampin' Wheel, the some new goodies from the new Occasions Catalogue.

Stamped Buttons

For the Mojo Monday Challenge this week I made the buttons on my card using the Simply Pressed Clay and the Buttons mold.  Once air dried, I stamped the buttons with the Music Notes Wheel and sponged on some Soft Suede ink.

The Challenge is based on this sketch.

I have used a colour scheme of Naturals White, Basic Black and Cajun Craze.  I embossed the Basic Black Core'dinations card with the Woodgrain embossing folder.   Stamp sets used "Itty Bitty Banners", "Fabulous Florets" and "Measuring Stick" Stampin Wheel.

Six Sided Sampler

Happy New Year everyone.

I had a quiet New Years Day at home with my family and I had some time to play this afternoon.
I made 3 cards using the "Six Sided Sampler" stamp set and matching punch.  The colour scheme is Basic Black and Baked Brown Sugar.  I wanted to have a masculine feel to my cards and I just adore these two colours together.

These are the cards.

Card 1

I used the Stripes embossing folder to create the black gingham background piece.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set, black button and Linen Thread to finish.  Other tools used were the Hexagon Punch with the matching stamp set "Six Sided Sampler".

Card 2

The tools I used are the Honeycomb embossing folder, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, Hexagon punch, small circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 1/2" Circle punch, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch,  along with stamps "Six Sided Sampler", "Music Notes" Wheel, "Simply Serif Mini Alphabet" and "Fabulous Phrases", a piece of
Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon was added to finish off the card.

Card 3

The background was made by stamping and punching out the shapes using the "Six Sided Sampler" stamp set and matching Hexagon punch, then sticking them down on a piece of card cut to size.  Other tools used are Chevron Border punch, embossing folder from the new Sale-a-bration catalogue, Ticket Duo Builder punch and matching stamp set "That's the Ticket", with finishing touches Burlap Ribbon.

The challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts is to create a papercraft project using the colours of Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate and Very Vanilla.

For my card I have used the stamp sets "Secret Garden" and "Itty Bitty Banners" along with the co-ordinating Framelits.  The embossing folder used is Stylish Stripes, put through the Bigshot twice to give the cross hatched effect.  The DSP is from the Regals Paper Stack and the Eastern Elegance  Paper Pack.  To finish the card of I have used three silver (the closest I could get to Smoky Slate) Glimmer Brads.

Flower Shop

I have been playing with the "Flower Shop" stamp set and matching punch for my card class today.  I have made three completely different cards, to show the versatility of the stamp set.  I have also used a constant theme of embossing on Vellum.

It's a Pink Birthday ....

The challenge this week at Mojo Monday is based on this great sketch created by Julee.  The challenge is to create a round or square card using the sketch.

I decided to make a square card using a colour scheme of Crumb Cake, Primrose Petals and Whisper White.  The stamp sets I have used are "Stippled Blossoms", "Clockworks" and "Itty Bitty Banners"

Clockworks Birthday

I got the "Clockworks" stamp set out for the challenge this week at The Paper Players based on this great sketch by Jaydee.

I created the background piece for my card by cutting out small diamonds from the First Edition Specialty paper and adhering this to a piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock.  I then sponged on Early Espresso all over this piece.   It ended up a bit dark so to lighten the card a bit I incorporated the First Edition Specialty DSP (stamped with Midnight Muse) and the Naturals Ivory cardstock.

The colour scheme is Midnight Muse, Early Espresso and Naturals Ivory.  The sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamp set and was cut out using the matching Bitty Banners Framelits.  The small cogs were stamped on Naturals Ivory cardstock with Midnight Muse and Early Espresso, then punched out using the 1.2" and 3/4" circle punches.  Matting circles were cut from Midnight Muse and Early Espresso cardstock using the 3/4" and 1" circle punches.  Early Espresso bakers twine was added to the base of the card.

Textured Effects

I have just started card classes and I have been playing around with ideas for class. This is a set of cards that I have created and called "Textured Effects".

The "Textured Effects" include dry embossing with the Crumb Cake inked onto the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, hessian, champagne glimmer paper, handmade central flower, small filler flowers made using dies and punches, ribbon flowers from the new "Flower Trim", leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits die and the linen thread bow.

This card is a centre set card, which I decided to go with to show the ladies in class different base card styles.  The sentiment on this card is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" and cut out using the matching framelits die.

The next two cards are a variation of the first card, just using a different card base style and the sentiments are from the "Vintage Versus" stamp set in the sale-a-bration catalogue.

Water Colour Crayons

I have been playing with my Stampin' Up Water Colour Crayons and these are the cards that I have made.

The first three cards are all the same colour sequence, using different background stamps, sentiments from the same set "Cross My Heart" in the new Seasonal Catalogue.  The embellishments on each card are also similar.  I have made this set for my next card class where we will be doing some basic backgrounds with the Water Colour Crayons.   I have quite a few ladies new to card making, so I am doing some very basic techniques to start with.

I have used Naturals Ivory as the base card and also for the piece that I did the Water Colour Crayons effect on.  I tried this to see how it went instead of the Water Colour Paper, and it worked okay so long as you do not put too much water on.  Also the blending is not as great as on Water Colour Paper, but with all the stamping etc on the piece you do not notice the imperfections in the blending.

I started by tearing two strips of the First Edition Specialty Paper and sticking this on the Naturals Ivory cardstock.  When these were dry I put my colours over the top.  The colours used on the first three cards are Regal Rose, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake which were randomly coloured over the piece with my paint brush and water.  I dried the pieces off with a heat gun to speed up the drying time (I am impatient).  I then used the Very Vintage Stampin' Wheel and Soft Suede ink to create the base background for the stamps, I then chose the stamps that I liked and stamped these in Basic Black on the piece.  The sentiments were hand cut and adhered using dimensionals.  The posy was made using linen thread, paper flowers from the Artisan Embellishment Kit, Crochet Trim and Tea Time Trinkets.  On the I Love You card, instead of the Crochet Trim I used two hearts made using the Full Heart Punch and the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit die, I then inked them in Soft Suede .  The edges of the centre pieces of all the cards were also inked with Soft Suede to give them a vintage feel.

This next card was made the same way but using the Water Colour Crayons Daffodil Delight and Elegant Eggplant.  I first stamped the image with Daffodil Delight and I then stamped over this with the Elegant Eggplant.  You can see the effect of the First Edition Specialy DSP on this card better than the previous cards. The stamp set used on this card is "Just Believe" and the sentiment was punched out using the Word Window Punch.

The final card was also made in the same way, however I used Soft Suede, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake Water Colour Crayons and instead of randomly colouring I did the colour in stripes.  The background on this card was stamped using a piece of bubble wrap (I just had to try this after seeing it in a magazine).  I was trying to make a masculine card, but the Cajun Craze came out a bit on the pink side, but I went with it anyway.  The sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamp set and cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  The circle piece was made using the 2 1/2" circle punch and the 3" circle originals die.  The stamps used on this are from "Clockworks" and "Need for Speed" stamps sets.

Less is More "Kraft & Kreme"

Kraft & Kreme is the challenge this week at Less is More.  The challenge is to create a card or project only using the colours Kraft and Cream.

I have used the oval lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit and the flowers are from the Flower Trim in the new Mini Catalogue.  Sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Banners" stamps set and was cut out using the matching Bitty Banners Framelits.
