February Card Class Project 3

Hi everyone, sharing the little Easter Egg bag project from my February card class.

When I started out designing this I realised that I did not have any current Easter stamps, Yikes!  So I had to adapt to what I had in my stash.  I have used the bunny from the Playing in the Rain stamp set, stamped with Black Memento ink and coloured using Light and Dark Calypso Coral, Dark Petal Pink and Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.

The Designer Series Paper is from the "A Little Latte" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper which is available as an Online Exclusive.

The little tag was created using the Tailor Made Tags dies and the 'Happy Easter' is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set that has been retired for quite sometime (told you I had to adapt to use what I had, lol).  This stamp set was the first stamp set that I purchased from Stampin' Up! and I still use it in my card making to this day.

To make this Easter Egg basket you will need:

Measurements

Lemon Lolly cardstock 2 3/4" x 2"
Lemon Lolly cardstock 2 1/2" x 6"
Lemon Lolly cardstock 1/2" x 5" (this is for the handle)
Designer Series Paper 1 3/4" x 6"

Technique

Score the 2 1/4" x 2" piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock on all sides at 1/2"  Snip on the lines as detailed in the diagram below

Fold and burnish all the score lines.  Fold the corners in place to form the bag base (it will be a rectangle box like base) and adhere in place.

Take the 2 1/2" x 6" piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock and die cut the very top using the Zig Zag die from the Basic Border Dies.

Adhere the piece of Designer Series Paper to the Lemon Lolly cardstock die cut piece, leaving a small 1/8" gap at the bottom.  I did use my one folder to slightly curl this piece and the handle as it makes it easier to form them into place.

Put Tear and Tape or Stampin' Seal+ on the reverse side of the Designer Series Paper on the bottom edge and one side edge.  Adhere to the bag base, starting in the middle of one of the long edges.  If you start on the corner it will keep popping open which you do not want.  Adhere the handle in place.

Add you coloured and die cut Bunny and the tag to finish. Oh do not forget the Easter Eggs.  This little bag holds 4 small sold eggs and 2 slightly larger eggs which have the carmel or turkish delight filling.

I hope you enjoyed this little Easter project.

Freshly Made Sketches #319

I am playing along this week with the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I coloured the flower image from the Falling Flowers stamp set with Stampin' Blends and added some small highlight dots in the centre with a White Gel Pen.  I masked the flowers during the stamping process, this allows you to layer the flowers over each other without stamping into the front image.

The flower image was stamped with Memento Black Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock before colouring with the Stampin' Blends.

The base card is Old Olive with strips of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and Very Vanilla cardstock adhered to either side of the flower panel.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and was stamped in Memento Black Ink on Old Olive cardstock and punched out with the Classic Label Punch.

Color Theory Daisy Card

Hi everyone, this set of cards is made using the Color Theory Designer Series Paper, Daisy Punch and the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

I made the same card using each of the colours in the DSP, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Berry Burst and Dapper Denim.  This would be a great card for a Stamp-a-stack.

To make this card you need the following:

A4 Thick Whisper White cardstock cut in half to create card base.
Basic Black mat 8.2cm x 12.3cm
Whisper White 7.8cm x 11.9cm
DSP 11.9cm x 4.5cm (or 1 3/4" x 4 11/16")

Make the daisy by punching two daisy flowers using the Daisy Punch and adhere these together.  Add a 1/2" circle of Whisper White and a Gold Faceted Gem for the centre.  Cut two leaves from Gold Glimmer paper using the leaf die from the May Flower Framelits.

For the inside of the card you need:

Basic Black mat 14.3cm x 10cm
Whisper White 13.9cm x 9.6cm
Strip DSP .6cm wide (or 1/4")

Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake

Hi everyone, I have been having a little play colouring with the Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake cardstock.

I stamped the image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set using Momento Ink on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  The flower was coloured using the Light and Dark Night of Navy, Dark Pool Party, Dark and Light Old Olive and the Colour Lifter Stampin' Blends.

The card base is Dapper Denim, with the mats of Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake cardstock behind the piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.   I chose this piece of paper as it has a slight blue tinge to the pattern that went perfectly with the colour of the flower and the Dapper Denim patterned paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The sentiment was made using the Birthday Banners and Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamps sets and the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  This was backed onto a Corrugated Elements oval shape.  Some Copper Metallic Thread was adhered behind the flower along with a piece of Very Vanilla Lace Trim.  A few Metallic Assorted Sequins were added to finish.

A touch of Black

A touch of Basic Black can make a project pop.

I have used a colour scheme on this card of Peekaboo Peach, Copper, and Basic Black.  A bit of neutral has made a show with the Touches of Nature Elements, Corrugated Elements and Burlap Ribbon.

Woodgrain Background

Hi everyone, it has been a few weeks since I have posted but I have been a bit busy putting my house back together after a recent burglary.  I never new I had so many clothes that needed to go to the charity shop until they were all pulled out of my wardrobe and dresser.

I have been creating in between and today's card is one using the Wood Textures DSP.  I cased the background from Connie Collins and you can see her amazing card here.

The focal point on my card is a technique called Stained Glass Window Stamping using heat resistant acetate.  This technique can be found on Jennifer Maguires blog here. I had some old overhead projector sheets that I tried and it worked perfectly.

I used the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the matching Seasonal Layers Thinlits to create the Stained Glass Window piece.

To finish the card I used some Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon, and Old Olive Glitter Enamel Dots

The little banner was made using the stamps sets Birthday Banners and Teeny Tiny Sentiments along with the Bunch of Banners Framelits.

Metallica

I had time to play in my craft room this morning and I just had to CASE the background and card design for this card from Stephanie Fischer.  I have created the card base and tarnished foil piece and mat the same but changed the rest of the card by creating this metallic posy to match the tarnished foil background.

I made two cards, just changing the sentiment.  I did use StazOn black in this technique as I found that the Black Archival ink rubbed off.

Cards for Cancer Council Relay for Life Team

Hi everyone, I have been stamping up a storm making cards for the Cancer Council Relay for Life Team at my work.  They do such a great job fundraising through the year. I do my little bit by keeping a card supply up at work where people can purchase a card or cards and the proceeds are donated to the Relay for Life Team fundraising effort.

I have been using up my paper stash and have been using a card sketch that is great for using patterned paper.  This is one of the cards.

I have used the Special Reason for my flowers and leaves along with the matching Stylish Stems Framelits dies.  The flower image was stamped with Blushing Bride and the Rich Razzleberry watercolor pencil was added and then coloured with the Aqua Painter.  The leaves were stamped in always Artichoke and a little bit of Basic Black watercolor pencil added.

The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.

I made three varieties of this card "Mother's Day", "Happy Birthday" and "Get Well Wishes".

Vintage Birthday Blooms

Hi everyone, sharing a card that I made when I was doing my entry for the Stampin' Up! OnStage Display Board.  I decided not to use it as part of my entry as I had already made a card using the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

I have used the new Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack for the background papers.  These have a great vintage feel to them, which went great with the flower that I had coloured using the Calypso Coral and Old Olive watercolour pencils.   These pencils make watercolouring so easy.   I used Shimmery White to do the watercolouring on as it is easier to fussy cut the image once finished than watercolouring paper is.

You can get all the supplies you need for this project
from me from 4th January 2017 when the new Occasions Catalogue is launched.

Wine Bottle Sleeves

When I watched the video by Linda Parker on how to make these amazing wine bottle sleeves I just had to try it.  You can see Linda's video's here.  Linda is a very talented lady who shares her creativity with us, which makes us some very lucky paper crafters.

I made some with a Christmas theme using Linda's measurements, what an amazing gift for Christmas.

When I visited the bottle shop to get some wine for these great little gifts I found the large and little bottles of wine which fit Linda's measurements, I made my Christmas gifts using these measurements.

I also spied a little bottle of Yellow Glen which was slightly larger than the little bottle of wine.  I purchased this thinking that the sleeve would still fit, well it did not.  So off to the work bench to work out the measurements etc.  I nailed it on the second go (I scored the wrong side the first go).

To make the wine bottle sleeve to fit the mini Yellow Glen bottle you will need a piece of cardstock 7 1/8" x 7 3/4".  Score on the 7 3/4" edge at 3/8", 1 5/8", 2 7/8", 4 1/8", 5 3/8" and 6 5/8".  Score the 7 1/8" edge at 1 3/8" each end.  The Designer Series Paper strips measure 1" x 4 1/8" and you will need a 1 3/4" circle for the base.  Follow Linda's tutorial to make the actual sleeve.

I made the second set of wine bottle sleeves using a Smoky Slate, Silver and Whisper White colour theme.  These would be great gift for a special occasion or a hostess gift for dinner or party.

Christmas Time Again

Hi everyone, I would like to share a card with you that I have made using the "Under the Tree" Specialty DSP.  I have seen these candles on several other cards and I really liked the simple design of them.   The flame in the candle is the bird wing from the "Bird Builder" punch, punched from Champagne Glimmer paper.   I made the garland around the bottom of the candles using the "Wondrous Wreath" stamp set and the matching framelits.  I cut the wreath in half to create the garland, so you can get two cards out of the one wreath. The sentiment is from the "Teeny Tiny Sentiments" stamp set.

Quilted Background

I cased this background idea from a card I found recently in blogland using a diamond pattern with zigzag stitching.

I did not have a diamond shaped punch, so I used the 1 1/4" square punch to make the small squares which were then embossed using a variety of embossing folders.  These were then adhered to a Whisper White card base and finished with the zigzag stitching between each square.  I inked all the edges with Baked Brown Sugar to give it a vintage feel.  The centre panel was raised slightly from the card base using dimensionals.  The edging on the strip across the card was made using the Finishing Touches Edgelits.  The small flowers were made from scraps of Coaster Board using the Petite Petals punch and inked with Baked Brown Sugar, pearls added for centres.

The Paper Players #193

Last weekend I attended a Stamp Camp at "Avalon" Toodyay organised by a friend of mine, Pat Carr.  I had a really great time meeting everyone and learning new techniques, methods and making all the projects on offer.

I have been so inspired by this camp that I have been entering some of the great challenges that I have not had time to enter lately.

I made this card using the Fresh Print DPS for the challenge at The Paper Players.  The challenge this week is a sketch by Anne Marie.

Mojo Monday #343

If you have not already guessed, I have fallen in love with the butterfly from the Backyard Basics stamps set and the co-ordinating die.  I have been putting in on everything.

The Mojo Monday Challenge #343 this week is based on this sketch by Julee Tilman:
I have used the Modern Medley DSP along with Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.  I made the flower using the Blossoms, Pansy and Petite Petals punches, Coaster Board and Basic Black cardstock.  I put the Blossoms shape through the Bigshot with the Beautifully Baroque embossing folder, then inked it up with Baked Brown Sugar.  Once the flower was layered up, I used an Antique brad for the centre.  The stamp sets used are Backyard Basics and Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Creating Backgrounds - Sponging and Spritzing

Hi everyone, this is the second technique that I promised to post.  I call it the Sponging and Spritzing technique (I am sure there is a more technical term for it).

I have used a colour scheme of Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White.  This is a card that I posted several months ago, but I have been asked numerous times on how I created the background, so here goes.

I randomly sponged Tempting Turquoise over a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 9cm x 13.3cm.
Photo

I then randomly sponged on Basic Gray.
Photo
I then sponged on Smoky Slate.
Photo
I then lightly spritz this piece with water to blend the colours together.  You can leave this step, however the colours will not be blended together as well, It also mutes the colour of the ink slightly.  Dry this off with the heat gun to speed up the process.

Once the piece is dry you can stamp your images.  I used Smoky Slate to do my stamping using the solid leaf stamp from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set and the Music Note Wheel.  I off stamped the Music Note Wheel to get a lighter colour of ink.
Photo
The next step is to spritz the piece with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to give it a lovely shimmery finish.  It does not show up very well in the photo, but the finished effect is beautiful, it also lightens the Smoky Slate stamped images.  I then stamped each corner with the small splodge stamp (not sure how to describe this stamp) from the Clockworks stamp set in each corner with  Tempting Turquoise ink. This piece will now be slightly wonky, but do not panic as when you stick it down to the base card it flattens out.
Photo

You are now ready to make your card.  I used a Smoky Slate mat 9.5cm x 13.8cm, a Whisper White mat 10cm x 14.3cm and a Basic Gray card base (a piece of A4 cut in half lengthwise).  The inside of the card is a Whisper White piece 10cm x 14.3cm with a White embossed butterfly on Smoky Slate adhered to the bottom right corner.

On my card I have used a doily (cut down to 3/4), a piece of Smoky Slate DSP 2.5cm x 9cm with the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set stamped in Basic Gray, a piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch, Basic Gray Stitched Grosgrain, frame from the Chalk Talk stamp set (stamped with Smoky Slate on Whisper White) and cut out with the matching Framelit, a 1 1/4" circle of the same background I made with the sponging and spritzing technique, White embossed butterfly from the Backyard Basic stamp set and the matching Framelit (this is on Smoky Slate).  The frame piece is lifted slightly with dimensionals.

Shades of Gray with a Touch of Blue

Was I ever out of my comfort zone today when I made my card for the Color Throwdown Challenge, using the colours of Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate and Whisper White.  I am really pleased with my finished card (it has a beautiful shimmer that does not show up in the photo), and I will certainly be using these colours together in the future.

I made the background by sponging Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray ink on Whisper White cardstock, spritzing with water to blend the colours.  Once this was dry I stamped on images from the Secret Garden, Clockworks stamp sets and the Music Notes Stampin' Wheel using Smoky Slate.  I then misted this with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to give a lovely shimmer to the finish.

The butterfly is from the Backyard Basics stamp set, embossed in White on Smoky Slate cardstock.  I created a small circle the same as the main background for underneath the butterfly on the tag from the Chalk Talk stamp set.

One for the boys...

I have been playing around with the new Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Chevron Border Punch to create geometrical shapes for a card for the boys.

This is what I came up with using a colour scheme of Basic Black, Soft Suede and Naturals Ivory.

Flower Shop

I have been playing with the "Flower Shop" stamp set and matching punch for my card class today.  I have made three completely different cards, to show the versatility of the stamp set.  I have also used a constant theme of embossing on Vellum.

Tea Lace Doily Fan

I have been playing around today making little flowers and folding the Tea Lace Doilies various ways to see how I could use them on my cards.  My card is designed around the fan I made using the doily, little flowers and pearls.  The tassel was made from the white bakers twine.

Colour scheme of Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe and Naturals White.
