A Little Gift Box

Hi everyone, sharing another of the projects that the ladies made at yesterday's class.

This little box is 4 3/4" high x 1 3/4" wide x 1" deep.  It holds a 30g tube of handcream or whatever you would like to put in it.  I gave the ladies a Thursday Planation 30g tube of Aloe Vera Gel to put in the box.  This would make a great little thank you gift.

To make this little box you will need the following:
Garden Green cardstock 7 ¼” x 6”
Designer Series Paper
-  2 pieces 1 5/8” x 4 5/8”
-  2 pieces 7/8” x 4 5/8”
-  1 piece 7/8” x 1 5/8”

Score the Garden Green cardstock piece
- on the 7 ¼” edge at 1”, 5 ¾” & 6 ¾”
- on the 6” edge at 1 ¾”, 2 ¾”, 4 ½” & 5 ½”

Fold and burnish all the score lines.

Cut as per the diagram, taking note that the yellow areas are to be cut away.

You cut along the dotted line _.._.._ making sure to stop where the solid line commences.

Once you have finished the cutting, round the corners of the piece that folds down to close the box.

Using the 1” circle punch cut a small half circle on the front top.  This is so you can open the box easily.

Adhere the DSP in place, taking note to re-punch the small half circle.  This is punched twice as the punch will not punch through the cardstock and the DSP when they are layered together.

I will admit that I have never been a big fan of the colour Garden Green, but the new Garden Lane Designer Series Paper has Garden Green as one of the colours and now I cannot seem to get enough of it.  I have purchased two packs of cardstock in the last month and before that I think I had only purchased one pack in the last two years.  Who would have thought that this gorgeous paper would change my outlook on the colour Garden Green, it now seems to be one of my favourites.

Just Add Ink #461 ... 'Inspiration'

Hi everyone, it has been a few weeks since I played along with the Just Add Ink challenge as I have been rather busy designing and prepping for my Junior Diabetes Research Foundation Fundraiser on 29 June.  I decided to have a little playtime this morning and play along with this challenge.

I started off with the colour palette of Yellow, Black, Gray and White then decided to add some of the nature elements from the trees.

The card base is Basic Black with a So Saffron mat behind the printed Vellum piece from the Magnolia Lane Memories and More Card Pack. A Stitched Rectangle was the centre piece on which I did my stamping along with the leaf and foliage arrangement.

The stamp set is Rooted in Nature and I have used the Nature's Roots dies and the Frosted Bouquet dies.

The metallic leaf is from the Leaves Trinkets and to finish the card a Whisper White Baker's Twine bow was added along with some Pearl Basic Jewels.

Tuesday Challenge #7

Hi everyone, it is the 7th week of my 'Tuesday Challenge' to use a stamp set and other goodies from the Annual Catalogue to create a card or other project.

I have used the Rooted in Nature stamp set with the coordinating Nature's Roots Framelits.  I added a few extra bits of foliage from the Sweet Cake Framelits and the sentiment was created using the Stitched Label Framelits with the 'Happy Birthday' from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

The card base is Crumb Cake with the next layer being a piece of Crumb Cake that I cut out using one of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I then cut out the centre rectangle from this also using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits, this is the piece that I did the floral arrangement on.  I then put the larger piece through the Tin Tile Embossing Folder and then swiped the White Craft ink pad over it until I was happy with the finished look.  I arranged all the floral elements on the small rectangle and then adhere this in place using dimensionals.

I love the added touch of copper from the Leaves Trinkets, Copper Trim and Sequins.

Happy Birthday

I pondered a while on what background to use for my card and decided on the Gray Granite woodgrain patterned paper from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper pack.  The Gray Granite teamed perfectly with the Highland Heather, Basic Black and Whisper White colour scheme that I had in mind.

I have used several stamp sets and framelits/thinlit sets in making my card:
  • Rooted in Nature stamp set
  • Beautiful Bouquet stamp set
  • Nature's Roots Framelits Dies
  • Sweet Cake Framelits
  • Stitched Labels Framelits
  • Stitched Shaped Framelits
The silver leaves from the Leaves Trinkets add a little dimension to the floral spray behind the sentiment panel.

Needing a Little Inspiration

I cased myself for this card.  I was in need of a little inspiration and I just love the colour combination of Gray Granite, Highland Heather, Whisper White and Basic Black so I used the floral spray I created on a previous card.

I have used a two stamp sets and several framelit sets in making my card.

  •  Rooted in Nature stamp set
  •  Nature's Roots Framelits
  •  Stitched Labels Framelits
  •  Sweet Cake Framelits
  •  Detailed with Love stamp set
The card sketch is one that found on Pinterest a while ago and had put in my ideas book.  This is a great layout as it uses 2" strips of Designer Series Paper, so you can get 12 cards from one 12" x 12" sheet of paper.

Polished Stone

I had a play with the 'Polished Stone' Technique today using the colours of Soft Suede and Balmy Blue.

I love the finished effect but found it a bit overwhelming to use the entire piece as a card front.  I cut it down to a 10.5cm x 5.5cm piece for the top of my card.  A strip of Champagne Foil Sheet was added beneath this.

The centre panel, matted onto a piece of Champagne Foil Sheet, was stamped with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake ink.  The leaf spaying was made by stamping the leaves in Soft Suede and die cutting, a Champagne Foil embossed leaf with one of the Leaves Trinkets and a Linen Thread bow added to finish.

With Love and Sympathy

I am having to restock my card supplies at work, so made this With Love and Sympathy card using the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the Nature's Roots Framelits.

I sell some of my cards at work with the proceeds going towards our WA Cancer Council Relay for Life Team's fundraising efforts.

I used a card base of Gray Granite with a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  The leaf spray was made using the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the Naturre's Roots Framelits with a Leaves Trinket to finish the spray.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

A Touch of Highland Heather

I love playing with new product and seeing what I can create.

Gray Granite and Highland Heather are two of the new colours being introduced with the colour revamp for 2018-2019.

The background was stamped with Gray Granite on a Gray Granite card base.  The image is from the Touches of Texture stamp set.  The two leaf images are from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, the larger leaf was stamped with Gray Granite on Whisper White and the other leaf was stamped with Highland  Heather (stamped off once) on Whisper White.  These were cut out using the matching Nature's Roots Framelits.  I love it when there is a matching die for the stamp set, it makes card making so much easier.

Three foliage filler leaves were cut from Silver Foil Sheet using the die from the Sweet Cake Framelits.  I layered these together to form the floral arrangement which was adhered over the lattice piece which was made from the Stained Glass Framelits.  A piece of Very Vanilla Polka Dot Tulle ribbon was also added behind the floral arrangement (I did not know that this ribbon came in Whisper White as well until recently, I was lucky enough to receive the Very Vanilla Ribbon at OnStage).

Did you notice the Silver leaves? These are from the Leaves Trinkets.  They come in Copper and Silver, perfect for that added embellishment.

The sentiment is from the Detailed With Love stamp set and die cut using the Stitched Labels Framelits.

A Feel Better Card with a Twist

Happy WA Day to all the West Aussies.  The weather held off today, but it is looking a bit serious for tonight so I am hoping that you have battened down the hatches.

I have had a bit of fun today creating this Feel Better card.  It has a little twist and is a bit more than a card.

With Winter just starting and the cold and flu season just around the corner I put together this little care package in the way of a card.

It has some tissues (Aloe Vera for the sore runny nose), Soothers (for the sore throat) and a Twinnings Australian Afternoon tea bag for a good cuppa.  My Nanna always said that a good cuppa always made you feel better.

I have created a little tag that sits behind the tea bag for your get well message.

I was intending to use the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper for this project but I forgot to order it (don't know how that happened).  Anyway, panic over as I stamped the leaf images from the Rooted in Nature stamp set using Soft Suede and Grapefruit Grove (stamped off once) on a piece of Whisper White cardstock to create my own Designer Series Paper.

The front panel has a piece of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper with a small spray of leaves made using the Rooted in Nature stamped set and the Nature's Roots Framelits.  I added one of the Copper Leaves Trinkets and a Linen Thread bow to finish.

2018-2020 In-colors

After I posted my 'It's a Beautiful Day' card 2 days ago I had a thought about making another 4 cards using the same sketch to show the gorgeous 2018-2020 In-colors.

Call Me Clover, what a beautiful vibrant green.  I have teamed this colour with the Rooted in Nature stamp set and the matching Nature's Roots Framelits.   Notice the silver metal leaf, this is from the new Leaves Trinkets.

Pineapple Punch makes you think of beautiful spring day.  I have teamed this colour with the Painted Glass stamp set and the Stained Glass Thinlits.  The butterflies were coloured using the Daffodil Delight Dark and Light Stampin' Blends.

Blueberry Bushel is a perfect colour for masculine cards.  I have teamed this colour with the Lift Me Up stamp set and the Up & Away Thinlits.

Grapefruit Grove is perfect for making very pretty cards.  I have teamed this colour with the Accented Blooms stamp set, Stitched Labels Fraemlits and the Tailored Tag Punch and Leaf Punch.

I have used the Stitched Labels Framelits on all the cards to create the stitched border on the cardstock strip on top of the Designer Series Paper (I know that I am going to be using this Framelits set a lot).
