Retirement Cards

Hi everyone, I was requested by one of my work colleagues to make two retirement cards for her to give to her friends, this is what I came up with.

The first card uses one of the cards from the Magnolia Lane Memories and More Card Pack, a Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories and More Cards and Envelopes a fussy cut Magnolia flower from the Designer Series Paper.  I added a Stitched Shape Circle cut from Petal Pink cardstock, some punch velum leaves and some Old Olive die cut leaves made using the In The Woods dies.  The sentiment was stamped using the Well Said stamp set.  

I added a Linen Thread bow behind the flower to give a little more interest to the flower and leaf arrangement.  Oh, and of course a few Rhinestones for a little bit of bling.

My second card uses the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper and the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and the matching Bouquet Bunch Dies.  The sentiment is stamped using the Well Said stamp set.

A tip for this card is that I cut the Designer Series Paper in 5cm strips and then cut these into 12.8cm lengths, so you can get 6 cards from one sheet of Designer Series Paper as I have used the reverse side of the paper as the contrast.

The centre panel is cut at:

7cm x 10.8cm Pretty Peacock Cardstock

6cm x 9.8cm Whisper White Cardstock

5.5cm x 9.3cm Mint Macaron Cardstock

5.5cm x 8.8cm Whisper White Cardstock (this is the piece that the sentiment has been stamped on).

Retirement Cards

Tuesday Challenge #26

Hi everyone, sharing my project this week for my Tuesday Challenge.  I have tried something a little different this week by using one of the Copper Dotted Treat bags on my cards.

The stamp sets I have used are To A Wild Rose, Merry Christmas to All, Beautiful Bouquet and Piece of Cake.

I cut the sides and bottom off the bag and then cut away the seam where the bag joined on the back.  This left me with a large strip that I have used on my first card.  I flagged one end and put a piece of Copper Foil Sheet behind.

My second card uses the large front piece from the bag that I have cut down to fit my card front. You will be left with a long strip that I have used to decorate the inside of the card.

My final card uses the other strip from the back of the bag, I have cut this in half so you get two of these cards from this strip.

The colours used on the flowers are Merry Merlot and Rococo Rose with Mossy Meadow for the leaves.

Tuesday Challenge #26

Freshly Made Sketches #387

Hi everyone, this is my 2nd post for today as I am making the most of a little play time and playing along with some of my favourite challenges.

The challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches is this great sketch by the Clean Team.  It is certainly a sketch I will be using again.  

I have cut three 1" strips from a piece of 6" x 6" Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Regals Designer Series Paper Pack.   You can get four cards from a 6" x 6" piece using by cutting the strips a 1" x 3".

TIP: To get the reverse flag ends on the 3 pieces of Designer Series Paper, stack the 3 pieces on top of each other and feed into the Triple Banner Punch.  You do not want to do this the normal way, but turn the punch over and feed the pieces into the punch from the back.  By putting the 3 pieces in at the same time they will all be the same size.

Adhere these 3 strips in place making sure to leave enough space at the top for the sentiment.  The sentiment 'Happiest Birthday To You' is from the Needle & Thread stamp set and was stamped using Black Memento ink.

The flowers are from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and I have stamped these using Berry Burst, Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, Mango Melody and Black StazOn ink.   They were cut out using the Bouquet Bunch Dies.

The foliage was made from Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz cardstock cut using the Bouquet Bunch Dies.

Freshly Made Sketches #387

Just Add Ink #456 ... 'Inspiration'

Hi everyone, sharing my card I made for this week's challenge at Just Add Ink.  It is an 'Inspiration' challenge this week using this picture as our guide.  

I elected to go with white flowers and gold accents.  I am not sure if it is gold or yellow in the picture, I decided gold went with the theme of my card.

There are lots of layers and texture (Shelli would be proud) on my card which I thought it needed as it is only White and Gold.

The background Whisper White piece was embossed using the Quilt Top Embossing Folder before it was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.  The next layer is a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies (4th die from the largest die). I Gold heat embossed the sentiment 'Congratulations' from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set on this stitched rectangle before adhering to the card front using dimensionals.

The floral arrangment was made by White heat embossing the flowers from the Pop of Petal stamp set and punching out using the Four-Petal Flower Punch.  I turned the flowers over and on the backside of the flowers I rolled the large stylus from the Take Your Pick tool over the petals to give them some dimension.  I then turn the flowers back over and on the front side gently eased the flower petals up from the centre before adhering a small Gold Faceted Gem in the centre.

The foliage and leaves were cut from Whisper White cardstock using the Foliage Frame Dies.  I arranged the leaves and flowers how I liked before adhering in place.

TIP: Adhere the flowers in place using Glue Dots or Tear and Tape.  If you use liquid glue the flowers will warp, and when I used Snail they popped off the card front, they just did not want to stay in put.

Just Add Ink #456 ... 'Inspiration'

Tuesday Challenge #11

Hi everyone, it is the 11th week of my 'Tuesday Challenge' to use a stamp set and other goodies from the Annual Catalogue to create a card or other project.

I designed this card for my Tuesday Challenge but I also decided to use it as my swap for our Stamparoos team meeting last week.  The theme for our swap was to use a stamp set that was continuing in the new catalogue which comes out in June.

My stamp set of choice is the 'Beautiful Bouquet" and I have used the coordinating Bouquet Bunch dies.

The flowers were stamped with Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight with StazOn Black for the flower centres.  The larger flower I added a little contrast by inking up the image with Mango Melody and then sponging on Pumpkin Pie in the middle with a sponge dauber.  I love these Autumn tone colours together with a pop of black for the sentiment.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings as I only wanted a small 'Happy Birthday' on the Basic Black strip across the card.

It does not show in the photo, but I embossed the card front using the Subtle Embossing Folder before adhering the piece of Cajun Craze Designer Series Paper in place.

Tuesday Challenge #11

Tuesday Challenge #8

Hi everyone, it is the 8th week of my 'Tuesday Challenge' to use a stamp set and other goodies from the Annual Catalogue to create a card or other project.

For this week's cards I have used the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper (I am going to call this Laser-cut paper for the rest of this post) and stamp sets 'Healing Hugs', 'Itty Bitty Greetings', 'Painted Harvest' and 'Beautiful Bouquet'.

The flowers were stamped with Lovely Lipstick ink, using 1st and 2nd generation stamping, These were then fussy cut.  One set of the leaves were stamped with Olive Olive and Mossy Meadow before being punched out with the Leaf punch.  The other set of leaves were stamped with Mossy Meadow before being fussy cut.

I used one of the pieces from the Laser-cut paper that was already framed for the Crumb Cake card and for the Basic Black card I created a stitched rectangle border using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits before adhering to a piece of the Laser-cut paper that was matted onto a piece of Crumb Cake.

To finish the cards I arranged the flowers and leaves and sentiments on top of the Laser-cut paper.  For the inside of the card I stamped some Mossy Meadow leaves on a piece of Whisper White before adhering in place.

Tuesday Challenge #8

Just Add Ink #451 ... 'Inspiration'

Hi everyone, I am playing along this week with the 'Inspiration' challenge at Just Add Ink.

For the inspiration on my card I have selected the colours and the flowers.

I have used the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and the coordinating Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  The flowers I stamped with Blushing Bride, Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick (1st & 2nd generation stamping).

The striped Mint Macaron Designer Series Paper is from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack.

For the inside of my card I stamped a Blushing Bride flower in the bottom right corner.

Just Add Ink #451 ... 'Inspiration'

Tuesday Challenge #7

Hi everyone, it is the 7th week of my 'Tuesday Challenge' to use a stamp set and other goodies from the Annual Catalogue to create a card or other project.

I have used the Rooted in Nature stamp set with the coordinating Nature's Roots Framelits.  I added a few extra bits of foliage from the Sweet Cake Framelits and the sentiment was created using the Stitched Label Framelits with the 'Happy Birthday' from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

The card base is Crumb Cake with the next layer being a piece of Crumb Cake that I cut out using one of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I then cut out the centre rectangle from this also using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits, this is the piece that I did the floral arrangement on.  I then put the larger piece through the Tin Tile Embossing Folder and then swiped the White Craft ink pad over it until I was happy with the finished look.  I arranged all the floral elements on the small rectangle and then adhere this in place using dimensionals.

I love the added touch of copper from the Leaves Trinkets, Copper Trim and Sequins.

Tuesday Challenge #7

Just Add Ink #446... Inspiration

Hi everyone, I am playing along with the challenge this week at Just Add Ink.  The challenge is to take inspiration from this photo, it could be the embossed background, the flowers, colours, basically anything in the photo that gets the imagination going.

I will admit that the blue embossed background was a bit much for me at first, but the funny thing is it is exactly what I ended up using as my inspiration as well as the flowers. 

The embossed background is Balmy Blue which I embossed with the Tin Tile embossing folder and then applied my White Craft ink pad directly over the embossed piece.  This has given a gorgeous finish to the background.

For the centre flower panel I used the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set along with the coordinating Bouquet Bunch Framelits dies. 

The leaves I cut from Pear Pizzazz with the flowers being stamped with Lovely Lipstick, Mango Melody/Calypso Coral and Petal Pink/Calypso Coral.

Just Add Ink #446... Inspiration

Happy Birthday

I pondered a while on what background to use for my card and decided on the Gray Granite woodgrain patterned paper from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper pack.  The Gray Granite teamed perfectly with the Highland Heather, Basic Black and Whisper White colour scheme that I had in mind.

I have used several stamp sets and framelits/thinlit sets in making my card:

• Stitched Shaped Framelits

Happy Birthday

Beautiful Bouquet

This is the stepped up version of the card I made yesterday using the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.

I used a normal size card instead of a note card and added a strip of Calypso Coral striped Designer Series Paper from the Subtles Paper Pack and a Basic Black Decorative Ribbon Border strip behind the stamped panel.

The stamping was the same using Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Momento Black ink.

Beautiful Bouquet

Hi everyone, I am sharing a card I made for the challenge given to us at the recent OnStage event to make a Thank You card using simple stamping that would be ideal for a beginner stamper.  We had to use: 

  1 Stamp Set - Check

  Ink (I used 3 as no number defined) - Check

  Note Card - Check

  Products from the Annual Catalogue only - Check

Easy you would think, but I am a girl that likes layers and embellishments, so this was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I decided on the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set as this has a lot of variety in the sentiments and the flowers and stems that can be stamped.

I stamped the leaf image using Old Olive ink and then added the flowers using Calypso Coral.  I used the stamping off technique for the lighter shaded flowers.  What a great way to add contrast in the colours of your flowers using the one ink pad and at the same time showing this easy technique.  The accents to the flowers were stamped using Momento Black which I also used for the 'Thank You'.

I added some Clear Rhinestones to finish my card as I think a beginner stamper would love to add a bit of bling to their card.

I will be sharing a card tomorrow that has this card stepped up slightly which would be great for the occasional stamper.

Wedded Bliss

This is another wedding card I made using a colour scheme of Gold, Basic Black and Whisper White.

The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set, stamped in Black Momento ink on Whisper White.  This was cut out using a circle from the the Stitched Shaped Framelits.  The flowers are from the Floral Frames Stamp set stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold.  The frame and foliage was made using the Foliage Frame Framelits with Gold Foil Sheet and Basic Black cardstock.

Wedded Bliss

Happy Wedding Day

I made this card for my brother and sister-in-law to give to a friend for a recent wedding that they were invited to.  I don't tend to make a lot of wedding cards but I really enjoyed creating this one using one of my favourite card sketches.

I have used a piece of Frosted Florals Specialty Designer Series Paper with a colour of scheme of Gray Granite, Powder Pink and Whisper White.

The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set that was stamped using Powder Pink ink.

The framelits I used are the Frosted Bouquet and Stitched Labels. A few Clear Rhinestone Jewels were added for a bit of bling.  What is a wedding card without a bit of bling, right!

Happy Wedding Day

Beautiful Bouquet

Project No. 6 from the JDRF fundraiser day is a pretty card using the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and the matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

The colours used on this card are Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.

A strip of Powder Pink DSP from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack was adhered to the Whisper White card base and then a piece of Whisper White cardstock adhered over this using dimensionals.  To create this Whisper White piece I just drew a waved edged freehand and the cut it out.  This was then put through the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The large flowers were stamped in full strength and then stamped again 2nd generation to give the lighter colour of Fresh Fig.  The small flowers were stamped with Powder Pink with Basic Black flower centres.  Pear Pizzazz cardstock was used to make the leaves and the stems in the floral arrangement.  The small filler foliage was created using Whisper White.  Adhere the arrangement together on the card front and add the wrapper which was stamped in Crumb Cake ink.   All these pieces were cut out using the matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

The sentiment was made using the Label Me Pretty stamp set and the matching Pretty Label Punch.  The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  To create the Powder Pink mat behind the sentiment, punch out a Powder Pink cardstock piece using the Pretty Label punch.  Cut this in half and the adhere behind the Whisper White label, with a small edge showing top an bottom. 

The measurements to make the card are:

• Thick Whisper White Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
• Powder Pink DSP - 4cm x 14.3cm 
• Whisper White - 14.8cm x 10.5cm (this is cut down with the wave edge)
