Altered Notebook

With all the excitement of the new Occasions Catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration promotion I sometimes forget the stamp sets and embellishments that I already have in my stash.

I found these notebooks at Kmart for $3 AUD and had the idea to transform one of them into an Art Journal and the other into a Birthday Book.  I immediately thought of the Timeless Textures stamp set to create the background along with some Embossing Paste, ribbons and sequins.

The Art Journal is a idea that I picked up from Jennifer McGuire where you jot down any ideas that you have for cards or projects, or keep a reference of an idea that you like from a project made by someone else.  I do not know about you, but I usually forget where I have seen a great idea and have to try and find it again when I want to recreate it or something similar.   The Art Journal is perfect for keeping a record, it is also a great reference tool when you are looking for some inspiration.  Another alternative is to change the word 'ART' to 'MY' and to can create a great little gift for someone who likes to keep a journal or diary.

To create the background I took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock 5" x 7 3/4" and dragged the White Craft Ink Pad down the cardstock piece.  I dried this with the heat gun to speed up the process.

The coffee stain image from the Timeless Textures stamp set was then stamped randomly using Archival Basic Black ink.  The fleur-de-les image was then stamped randomly using Crumb Cake ink.  The distressed edge image was stamped around the edge of the piece using Soft Suede ink.

The next layer was then added using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Embossing Paste.  Once this was dry the dot image from the Timeless Textures stamp set was stamped randomly with Versamark ink and Copper Embossing Powder added and heat set.  The same image was then stamped randomly with Archival Basic Black ink.

This background piece was matted onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock 5 1/4" x 8", then adhered to the front of the notebook.  Ribbons were tied down the spine, I used Copper Trim, Basic Black Shimmer, Lace Trim and Burlap (this was cut in half).

The word 'ART', using the Letters for You stamp set, was stamped in Archival Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla and cut out using the Large Letters Framelits.  The edges were inked with Crumb Cake.  This was adhere to the notebook front.

I then stamped the word 'Journal', using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Archival Basic Black ink and Very Vanilla cardstock.  This was trimmed to fit across a corrugated oval from the Corrugated Shapes embellishments.  A piece of Cooper Trim 10" long was teased apart and trimmed to fit behind the corrugated oval.  A button from the True Gentleman Buttons was added with a double Linen Thread bow.  Copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment were added to finish.

For the Birthday Book I made the background the same and the ribbons on the spine.

The word 'BOOK', using the Letters for You stamp set, was stamped in Archival Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla and cut out using the Large Letters Framelits.  The edges were inked with Crumb Cake.  This was adhere to the notebook front.

The word 'Birthday' was made using the Happy Birthday Thinlits and Basic Black cardstock.  This was adhered to the notebook front.  Copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment were added to finish.

For the inside I divided the book into 12 equal parts and made tabs for each month using the Tabs for Everything and the Labeler Alphabe stamp sets and the Circle Tab punch.

Embossed Foil

Hi everyone, in late October I attended a Stamp Camp held by a good friend of mine where I was shown how to do this technique of embossing foil and adding Copper & Gold Embossing Powder along with some Black Stazon ink.

I have used a Kraft card base with a piece of Basic Black cardstock layered on top.  A little Copper Embossing was added to the background of the card, with a silver doily and some silver stars added in keeping with the metallic theme.

Country Livin'

Hi everyone, for today's card I am using some of my left overs from previous projects.  I seem to end up with all these little bits and bobs, especially if I am demonstrating various items for card classes.

The stars were cut using the Stars Framelits and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I then coloured them with Stampin' Write Markers Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.

The strip of patterned paper is from the Morroccan Designer Series Paper pack with the background stamped using Delightful Dijon ink and the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set and Early Espresso ink and the Timeless Texture stamp set.  The sentiment was made using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

Hi everyone, you know when you start off with an idea for a card and what you finish up with is nothing like the idea you started with. This is what happened to me when I started out designing cards for this months classes.

I had a completely different idea for the stamped background and what I was going to make, it just evolved into a card great for the boys and men in our lives.

The guitar is from the Country Livin' stamp set (watercoloured with Soft Suede), the sentiment from Crazy About You and the background is stamped using the Timeless Textures stamp set.  Colour scheme of Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.

2nd Day of Stamp Camp..

Hi everyone, still going strong at the Stamp Camp at "Avalon Homestead", Toodyay.  We have a full-on day today, it will probably be a late night.

For this card I stamped the image on the Designer Series Paper to give it a little more texture.  This is a great way of changing up Designer Series Paper.  For my card it looked a little bland with just the marbled design on the paper but by stamping the image from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Early Espresso it gave it more depth and it coordinated perfectly with the monochrome colour scheme of my card.

Something Old, Something New and Something We Are Keeping!!

Hi everyone, did you know that you can do a resist technique with the White Stampin' Chalk Marker. I didn't until I viewed this great video tutorial by Dawn Griffiths.

Following the tutorial by Dawn I created the White Stampin' Chalk Marker resist technique on the flower.

For my card I have used the stamp sets "Timeless Textures" and "Garden in Bloom" that you can purchase now (these we are keeping) and also a new stamp set coming your way on the 1 June 2016, "Labeler Alphabet".

The something old on the card is the Go Wild Designer Series Paper that is on the Retiring List and will no longer be available after 31 May 2016 or before depending upon stock.

See the retiring list here!

A Little Gift of Cards ...

I am sharing a project with you today that a learnt how to make at a Stamp Camp that I attended last September.   I have remade the project using some of the latest stamps and framelits, it is a card holder for 4 cards made using the Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes.

Does it look familiar, it should I cased myself from a card I recently posted here.

The stamp sets used on my project are Writing Notes, Timeless Textures, Grateful Bunch, Crazy About You, And Many More and Picture Perfect.  Colour scheme of Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White and Rose Red.  The flowers were cut from Rose Red patterned paper from the Love Bossoms Designer Series Paper Stack using the Botanical Builder Framelits.

Create the folder front and before you adhere it down make sure that you have put your ribbon around the cover so that you can tie a bow on the side to keep it closed.  I used about 26" of ribbon, this allows you to tie the bow easily.

To create the cover just score a piece of A4 cardstock in half portrait and then in half landscape.  Fold and burnish all the score lines.  Using your Stampin' Trimmer cut on the diagonal  on two sides from the centre score line to the edge of the middle score line to create the pockets for the card.  There is no adhesive required, it just folds up into a little booklet.

I made the 4 cards all the same, just changing up the sentiment to Thanks, Just A Note, Celebrate and Happy Birthday.  I thought that this would cover a lot of occasions where these cute little cards would be appropriate.

This project was actually quite quick to make as I made the cards all the same just changing the sentiment.  Also Stampin' Up make it so easy with the Note Cards and Envelopes already made for us.

Special Friend...

I confess, I did not get around to sending out Christmas Cards this year and I really, really, really should have sent one to a very good friend who lives on the other side of Australia.

So I decided to make her a very special card for a special friend.

For the background I stamped the Writing Notes stamp in Soft Sky ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  I then stamped some of the images from the Timeless Textures stamp set with Crumb Cake and Tip Top Taupe, first, second and third generation stamping to get the various shades of the images.  The butterfly is from the Grateful Bunch stamped in Tip Top Taupe.   The small splatter images is from the Timeless Textures stamp set which was stamped with Rose Red ink.

The other embellishments include Metal Rimmed Pearls which are part of the Weekly Deals which you can find here.  Just click on the Shop Now tab.  The flower is made using the Botanical Builder Framelits and Designer Series Paper from the Love Blossoms Paper Stack.  The leaves were from the same Framelits set, die cut in Whisper White with Tip Top Taupe sponged on the edges.  I have added a small silver doily from the Metallic Foil Doilies pack and also I cut down one of the White Lace Doilies which I slipped under the Sahara Sand Lace Trim.  Silver Metallic Thread was layered under the flower which was finished with a Crumb Cake Candy Dot added to the flower centre.

Time for Coffee ...

You know when you have an idea in your head but it does not seem to come together, well this is what happened to me recently.  I purchased a box of Robert Timms Coffee Bags intending to design gift packaging to put them in.  Well I just never seemed to find the right stamps or design.  You can imagine my squeal when I opened the new Occasions Catalogue and found the Cups and Kettles Framelits dies and the stamp sets Timeless Textures and Balloon Celebrations.  Oh what bliss!

The gold embossing did not show up very well in the photo, but it looks great against the Early Espresso Cardstock.  I have put the measurements for the coffee folder at the end of this post, they are for the Robert Timms Coffee Bags available in Australia. I am not sure if they are the same size in the big wide world, so you may need to adjust your measurements to suit.  I cased the Occasions Catalogue on page 29 for the stamping, I just changed the tea cup for the coffee cup.

I made a matching 3"x 3" gift card, carrying on the wording from the coffee folder.  I also made a small envelope to fit the card, using the Envelope Punch Board

The inside of the card is very simple with the sentiment Happy Birthday.

Measurements for the Coffee Folder

Early Espresso Cardstock 12cm x 26cm
Gold Satin Ribbon 45cm
Gold Foil Sheet 8cm x 11.5cm (for front)
Crumb Cake Cardstock 7.5cm x 11cm (to be stamped for front)

Score the Early Espresso Cardstock on the 26cm edge at 4cm, 12.5cm, 13.5cm and 22cm.  Fold and burnish all score lines.

Add tape to the top and bottom (on the inside) of the 4cm flaps, when adhered down these create the pockets for the Coffee Bags on the inside of the folder.

Add the ribbon to the folder, and then do the stamping and adhere this piece to the Gold Foil Sheet mat and then adhere this to the front over the ribbon.
