Stars, Stars and You're a Star!!

You know when you have and idea and you just have to try it but when you have made it you do not know what to do with it? This happened to me when I had the bright idea of making a watercolour background using Tip Top Taupe, Night of Navy and Tempting Turquoise.

I really liked the finished watercolour background, but now what do I make with it.  A troll through my stash and I rediscovered the Pictogram Punches stamp set which then got me to thinking about stars.   The Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask was the next item to be pulled out of the dark dungeon at the back of my cupboard and I then got the Stars Framelits out, added some White Craft ink and some Basic Black Archival ink and this is my finished card with just a little bit of Dazzling Details added on the large star.

The star strip was made using the Baker's Box Thinlits.  You really should have a look at what else is included in the thinlits, you may be surprised (I know I was).

Stars, Stars and You're a Star!!

Special Card for a Special Boy...

A special boy in my family has a birthday today, he is turning 12.  I think he is a bit of a star so the Pictogram Punches stamp set was perfect to use to create his card.

For the background I used Shimmery White cardstock and arranged star shapes over the cardstock made using the Stars Framelits, this created a mask for the star shapes.  I then misted with a mix of Marina Mist reinker and Isocol rubbing alcohol, removing the star shapes and revealing the star outlines on the background.

To finish the card I created a cardbase of Marina Mist and a Basic Black mat for the background Shimmery White piece.  I cut out some Basic Black stars and arranged these on the top two thirds of the card.  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of Shimmery White and matted onto Basic Black and then Marina Mist.  This was then adhered to the card front.  Stars from the Metallics Sequin Assortment were added to finish the card.  For the inside of the card I adhered 3 of the stars that I used to create the background piece, these were misted with the Marina Mist as part of the process.

Special Card for a Special Boy...

Stencil Monoprints Technique

Hi everyone, after a bit of a hiatus I got back into some card making today.  The challenge this week at Can You Case It is perfect as it is a designer's choice.

I tried out the Stencil Monoprint technique using the Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks. I have had these masks since they first appeared in the catalogue and this is the first time that I have used them.  I love the finished effect.


Colour scheme of Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist.

Stencil Monoprints Technique

You're a Star

Hi everyone, I would like to share my card with you that I have made for the challenge this week at Mojo Monday.

I created the background by inking the Arrows textured impressions embossing folder with Chocolate Chip ink and using a piece of Naturals Ivory cardstock put it through the Bigshot.  The base card is Chocolate Chip and the DSP is the Neutrals DSP Stack and Flower Pot DSP paper pack.  The images are from the Pictogram Punches, with the small stars punch out using the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  The Crushed Curry star was created using the Stars Framelits.

Just an update - I was lucky enough to be an August Winner at Mojo Monday
which made my day when I found out.
