Altered Notebook

With all the excitement of the new Occasions Catalogue and the Sale-a-Bration promotion I sometimes forget the stamp sets and embellishments that I already have in my stash.

I found these notebooks at Kmart for $3 AUD and had the idea to transform one of them into an Art Journal and the other into a Birthday Book.  I immediately thought of the Timeless Textures stamp set to create the background along with some Embossing Paste, ribbons and sequins.

The Art Journal is a idea that I picked up from Jennifer McGuire where you jot down any ideas that you have for cards or projects, or keep a reference of an idea that you like from a project made by someone else.  I do not know about you, but I usually forget where I have seen a great idea and have to try and find it again when I want to recreate it or something similar.   The Art Journal is perfect for keeping a record, it is also a great reference tool when you are looking for some inspiration.  Another alternative is to change the word 'ART' to 'MY' and to can create a great little gift for someone who likes to keep a journal or diary.

To create the background I took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock 5" x 7 3/4" and dragged the White Craft Ink Pad down the cardstock piece.  I dried this with the heat gun to speed up the process.

The coffee stain image from the Timeless Textures stamp set was then stamped randomly using Archival Basic Black ink.  The fleur-de-les image was then stamped randomly using Crumb Cake ink.  The distressed edge image was stamped around the edge of the piece using Soft Suede ink.

The next layer was then added using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and Embossing Paste.  Once this was dry the dot image from the Timeless Textures stamp set was stamped randomly with Versamark ink and Copper Embossing Powder added and heat set.  The same image was then stamped randomly with Archival Basic Black ink.

This background piece was matted onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock 5 1/4" x 8", then adhered to the front of the notebook.  Ribbons were tied down the spine, I used Copper Trim, Basic Black Shimmer, Lace Trim and Burlap (this was cut in half).

The word 'ART', using the Letters for You stamp set, was stamped in Archival Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla and cut out using the Large Letters Framelits.  The edges were inked with Crumb Cake.  This was adhere to the notebook front.

I then stamped the word 'Journal', using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Archival Basic Black ink and Very Vanilla cardstock.  This was trimmed to fit across a corrugated oval from the Corrugated Shapes embellishments.  A piece of Cooper Trim 10" long was teased apart and trimmed to fit behind the corrugated oval.  A button from the True Gentleman Buttons was added with a double Linen Thread bow.  Copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment were added to finish.

For the Birthday Book I made the background the same and the ribbons on the spine.

The word 'BOOK', using the Letters for You stamp set, was stamped in Archival Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla and cut out using the Large Letters Framelits.  The edges were inked with Crumb Cake.  This was adhere to the notebook front.

The word 'Birthday' was made using the Happy Birthday Thinlits and Basic Black cardstock.  This was adhered to the notebook front.  Copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment were added to finish.

For the inside I divided the book into 12 equal parts and made tabs for each month using the Tabs for Everything and the Labeler Alphabe stamp sets and the Circle Tab punch.

Have a Birthday Brew!

I am playing along with the challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches.

I have used some new products from the Occasions Catalogue and the Sale-A-Bration promotion on my card.

The Bubbles and Fizz Designer Series Paper I have used is from the Sale-A-Bration promotion. The Bubble Over stamp set and matching Bottles and Bubbles Framelits dies are from the Occasions Catalogue.  An extra bonus there are dies in the Bottles and Bubbles Framelits that cut out the bottle images in the Bubbles and Fizz Desginer Series Paper, no fussy cutting involved.

I'd Slay A Dragon for You

A bit of a whimsical card today, made using the new Myths and Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper and Magical Day stamp set available 2 January 2018 in the Occasions Catalogue.  I also used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to create the words "I'd Slay a Dragon for You".

The paper has all these knights, dragons, castles, mermaids, wizards and other images that you can fussy cut.

Or if you prefer the Magical Day stamp set has all the same images that you can colour with Stampin' Blends, or Watercolour Pencils, or ink and an Aquapainter.  You can then cut these out using the matching Magical Mates Framelits dies.

Quick Gift Packaging

Hi everyone, with the Christmas Good Cheer Season happening I nearly forgot someone's birthday.  I had the gift but had not packaged it, so into my stash I went and found the gorgeous Gold and White Striped Treat Bags.

Now how to decorate!  A quick leaf and foliage spray in gold and white, a little tag and some Whisper White Bakers Twine and problem solved.

It took me less than 15 minutes to put this together.  Pop the pressie in and all good to go.

Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake

Hi everyone, I have been having a little play colouring with the Stampin' Blends on Crumb Cake cardstock.

I stamped the image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set using Momento Ink on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  The flower was coloured using the Light and Dark Night of Navy, Dark Pool Party, Dark and Light Old Olive and the Colour Lifter Stampin' Blends.

The card base is Dapper Denim, with the mats of Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake cardstock behind the piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.   I chose this piece of paper as it has a slight blue tinge to the pattern that went perfectly with the colour of the flower and the Dapper Denim patterned paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The sentiment was made using the Birthday Banners and Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamps sets and the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  This was backed onto a Corrugated Elements oval shape.  Some Copper Metallic Thread was adhered behind the flower along with a piece of Very Vanilla Lace Trim.  A few Metallic Assorted Sequins were added to finish.

Stampin' Up! OnStage Display Board Entry

Merry Christmas Everyone, sharing some projects (some new and some old) for an entry to Stampin' Up! for the opportunity to stamp projects for the OnStage display boards for the April Event.

I am going to the Perth Event and I am looking forward to catching up with everyone and also meeting some new faces.  These events are rather exciting as we get to see and try the new products in the next annual catalogue.  We also receive training tips and tricks and one of my favourites is the swapping of projects.

We have to make 3 cards, 1 scrapbooking page and 2 3D items for our entry.

Cards

My first card is one I made using the Shaving Cream with a Sparkle technique by Kim Jolley.  This technique gives a great marble finish with the added sparkle of gold embossing.  I added the circles from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set to finish the background.

A piece of Basic Black Shimmery Ribbon and Gold Sequin Trim was added to the card front.  I than adhere a Scalloped Circle and a Stitched Shape Circle together and adhere them on top of the ribbons using dimensionals.

I cut out the number 21 using the Large Number Framelits and adhered these to the circle.  The word ‘Again’ from the Number of Years stamp set was stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Black Momento ink and punched out using the Classic Label Punch.  I cut the ends close to the word to give straight edges and adhered this across the number ‘1’ using dimensionals.

I think this makes a great card for the guys in our life.

My second card is a one of my favourite Christmas Cards this year, using the Seasonal Chums and also the Brightly Lit Christmas stamp sets along with the matching  Seasonal Tags Framelits and the Christmas Lamppost Thinlits.   I coloured the snowman with the new Stampin' Blends, love the depth they give to the image with the shading.

My third card uses the gorgeous Painted Harvest stamp set, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and the Leaf Punch.  There was a bit of fussy cutting for this card.

Scrapbook Page

The True Gentleman Designer Series Paper was just perfect to create this scrapbook page of one of my favourite photos of my Dad.  This picture was taken in 1948 when my Dad was 21 years old, he was such an amazing Dad and sadly he passed 8 years ago but we have such precious memories of him.

I used a lot of the products from the True Gentleman suite on this page.  The buttons add a great embellishment and I used two of them to back the word 'My' onto.

3D Items

My first 3D items is one I made about 4 weeks ago.  It is a little gift box I designed for a small tube of hand cream from the Body Shop.  I used the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  This gorgeous paper has a sheet with the daisy flowers and I cut one of these out for the decoration on the little box.

I made this box to match the card, great little gift set.

My second 3D project is one I posted last week.  I decorated one of the Mini Pizza Boxes and made six matching Christmas Tags. This is a terrific little project to make for someone special.  You can give them a little box of Christmas Tags and when they have used the tags they have a gorgeous little gift box that they can use to package a gift.

I used the "Oh, What Fun" stamp set from the annual catalogue on this project.

The little gift box is made using one of the Mini Pizza Boxes, with a strip of Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series paper 5cm x 25.3cm (or 2" x 10") wrapped around to create a belly band.  A 8.3cm x 8.3cm (or 3 1/4" x  3 1/4") square of Gold Foil Sheet was adhere to this.  A 7.6cm x 7.6cm (or 3" x 3") scalloped square of Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper is adhered to this.  A gold Foil Snowflake is then added and the Stitched Shaped Oval with the 'Merry Christmas" sentiment Gold heat embossed is adhere to this using dimensionals.  How quick and easy is this little box.

I made six tags and included two of each design in the box.  I have given the instructions for the tags in inches (you can adapt them to cm if you prefer).  I just found it easier to cut the Designer Series Paper for this project using inches.

Tag 1

DSP - 3" x 2"
Gold Foil Sheet - 3" x 1"

Adhere the Gold Foil Sheet to the DSP and punch using the Tag Topper Punch.  Using the Triple Banner Punch create the flag end (Tip - I did not push it all the way through, I turned the punch over and lined up the edge before punching this way you do not waste the DSP).

Stamp the image on Whisper White using Versamark ink and Gold heat emboss.  Punch out using the Every Day Label Punch.  Adhere to the tag using dimensionals.  Add Whisper White Baker's Twine to the tag to finish.

Tag 2

Stamp the image on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Gold heat emboss.  Cut out using a Stitched Shaped Circle.  Using the Starburst Punch punch out a piece of DSP.  Layer the circle on this and add a Gold Foil Sheet star to the top cut using the die from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits.  Punch a small hole in the top and add a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twice.  Add two stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes to finish.

Tag 3

Cut a 2 1/2"x 2 1/2" DSP scallop square. Stamp the image on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Gold heat emboss.  Cut out using the 2 1/8" x 2 1/8" Stitched Shape Square.  Layer these two pieces together.  Punch a Gold Foil piece using the Circle Tab Punch.  Adhere this to the tag top and add a star cut from Gold Foil Sheet using the die from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits.  Punch a hole and add a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine to finish.

Tag 4

DSP - 3" X 2".  Punch with Tag Topper Punch.  Add Whisper White Baker's Twine to the tag top.

Cut a gold snowflake from Gold Foil Sheet using the die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  Adhere this to the tag top.

Stamp the image using Versamark ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Gold heat emboss.  Punch out using the Classic Label Punch and adhere to the tag top across the gold snowflake to finish.

Tag 5

DSP 3" X 2" - Punch end with Triple Banner Punch.  Add a Gold Foil Sheet star to the top of the tag.  This is made using the die from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits.  Punch a hole in the star and add a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine.

Punch a Gold Foil banner using the die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Adhere this to the tag top.

Stamp the image using Versamark ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Gold heat emboss.  Cut out using a Stitched Shaped Oval and adhere to the tag top using dimensionals to finish.

Tag 6

Using the Layering Circle Framelits cut a 2 1/2" Scalloped Gold Circle.  Punch a 2 1/4" DSP circle using the 2 1/4" punch.  Layer these two pieces together. Punch a Gold Foil piece using the Circle Tab Punch.  Adhere this to the tag top. Punch a hole and add a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine.

Stamp the image using Versamark ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and Gold Heat emboss.  Cut out using the die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Adhere this to the tag top using dimensionals.  Cut two stars from Gold Foil Sheet using the die from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits and adhere to the tag top to finish.

Pillow Box

I finally got around to making the pillow box using the 'Trim Your Stocking' Thinlits.  I made these for our recent Stamparoo Stampin' Up! Group swap.  I put a lip balm inside as a little present.  They are rather cute!

The box is made using Kraft cardstock from the 'Merry Little Christmas' cardstock pack and decorated with a strip of 'Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper' and foliage from the 'Pretty Pines Thinlits.'  Celebrate the Season is from the 'Tags & Trimmings' stamp set that was White heat embossed on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut out using an oval Stitched Shaped Framelit.  A Cherry Cobbler Double Stitched Ribbon bow was added to finish.

Eastern Palace Suite

I gave myself a little challenge to use some of the products from the Eastern Palace Suite that I have in my stash.

I kept looking at the stickers, the mini tassels and the beautiful designer series paper trying to decide on how I was going to incorporate them in my card, but nothing was happening in the creative department .  Finally I decided to get one of my favourite 'go to' sketches out to get some inspiration happening.  This is the finished product.

I made two cards using the same sketch, just changing the colour of the card base, the design and positioning of the medallion.

A tip on using the decorative edging strip - As most of it is behind the medallion you only need to apply tiny pieces of the strip either end, this way you get more use from the stickers.
