Background Bits

I think Fresh Fig is my new favourite colour (still tossing up between Lemon Lime Twist).

The background for this card was stamped using the new Hostess stamp set Background Bits and Versamark ink and embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.

Stamping of the flower sprays:
  • Flowers stamped with Fresh Fig, 1st and 2nd generation stamping.
  • Leaves were stamped using Always Artichoke
  • Filler foliage and flowers were stamped with Always Artichoke and Powder Pink
These were fussy cut and then layered onto the card front.

The sentiment "Birthday" is from the Tabs for Everything stamp set which was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder.

The measurements to make the card are:
  • Card base - A4 cut in half then folded in half
  • Copper mat - 13.5cm x 9.3cm
  • Whisper White - 13.2cm x 9cm

For You

This is such a versatile sentiment.  It covers all occasions from birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, thank you, just about whatever occasion you need a special card for.

I did a little jig when I saw the Hostess set Background Bits available in our demonstrator pre-order.  The script stamp is going to be well used I think.  This card has been made with the wonderful new products available from 1 June 2017.

To make the background I masked the sides of the Whisper White card stock with a Post-It Note that I tore in half to create an uneven edge.  I then stamped the script image using Versamark ink until the area was covered (I stamped it about 6 times) and then added Copper Embossing Powder and heat set.  TIP:  To get an uneven effect to the script image, brush off some of the embossing powder before heat setting.

I cased the crate idea on the card from from the Annual Catalogue. The card in the Annual Catalogue had carrots in it, but I want ed something pretty as I was giving this card to my Mum, so changed it up to flowers.  I have used the Orange Blossom stamp set for the floral display.  I stamped the flower stamp with Fresh Fig full strength then stamped it again 2nd generation.  This gives you the lighter coloured flower.  The flower centres were stamped with Basic Black Archival.

The leaves were stamped with Always Artichoke.  The stem of the filler flower was also stamped with Always Artichoke and the flower buds stamped with Powder Pink

I fussy cut all the pieces (did I hear some groans?) before arranging them in the crate.

To make the crate you will need one full piece of the crate and then one half piece of the crate, cut out using the Wood Crate Framelits. The bonus of this is that you will get one crate from one piece of the 6" x 6" Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.

A piece of doily was added just under the flowers.  The sentiment is from the Wood Word stamp set and was stamped with Fresh Fig and cut out with the matching die in the Wood Crate Framelits. The sentiment was tied to the crate using a piece of Linen Thread that has been wrapped around the crate.

The Whisper White piece has been matted onto a piece of Copper Foil Sheet. TIP: Before adhering the layers together cut out a Happy Birthday from the Copper Foil Sheet using the Happy Birthday Thinlits.  You will not even notice that you have cut out the centre of the Copper Foil Sheet.  You can keep the Happy Birthday image for another card.  I will be posting a card on how I used this image in the next couple of weeks.

The card base is a piece of A4 Fresh Fig cut in half then folded in half.

Don't forget the inside of the card.  I have added a little spray of the flowers and leaves in the bottom right corner.
