Congratulations

In the recent edition of Australian Simply Cards, there was an article show casing a card made by Jasmine Eccles, using ghost stamping with Distress Inks.  I really liked the style of the card, so I decided to make a similar card Stampin' Up style.

It has taken me about 2 hours to make my card, but this was because I had to work out all the measurements and how to put it together.  Hopefully now that I have these, the next time I make a card like this it will be quicker.

Measurements

Cut a piece of A4 Perfect Plum Cardstock in half lengthwise.  Fold this in half to create your base card.
Cut a strip of A4 Perfect Plum Cardstock lengthwise, 3cm wide.  Fold this in half then fold the ends into the middle to create 3 fold lines.  You should have a valley fold, mountain fold and a valley fold.
Cut a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock 14cm x 10cm (this is the mat for the front of the card)
Cut 2 pieces of Confetti White Cardstock 14cm x 10cm
Cut 1 piece of Confetti White Cardstock 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Cut 4 pieces of Perfect Plum Cardstock 6.5cm x 9.5cm
Cut 4 pieces of Sahara Sand Cardstock 6cm x 9cm
Cut 4 pieces of Confetti White Cardstock 5.5cm x 8.5cm

Technique

On my card I embossed the flourish stamp from the Elements of Style stamp set with clear embossing powder before I started sponging on ink.  However this step is optional.

Sponge Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder and Sahara Sand over the Confetti White Cardstock 13.5cm x 9.5cm piece and the 14cm x 10cm pieces.  Mist with water to create a water washed look, blot off with paper towel and dry using heat gun.

Make a mask out of cardstock and the Paper Doily Sizzlits Die.  Lay this on the piece where you want the mask and spritz with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  This will give a beautiful finish to the card piece.  Let this dry.

Randomly stamp images on the pieces as desired using Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake and Basic Grey Classic Stampin' Pads.  When using the Basic Grey, to get a lighter image off stamp before stamping on your piece.  The stamps that I used are the Very Vintage Stampin' Wheel, script stamp and Paris postage stamp from French Foliage stamp set, music notes from Natures Pace, and butterfly from Papillion Potpourri.

Adhere the finished 13.5cm x 9.5cm piece to the Sahara Sand mat, then onto the Perfect Plum base card.

On a scrap piece of Confetti White Cardstock, sponge on Sahara Sand in the middle and Perfect Plum around the end.  Spritz with water, blot off and dry.  Stamp the Congratulations sentiment from the Layered Labels stamp set, cut out using the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  Sprtiz with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  Let dry and layer onto a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock, and cut out leaving a small edge.

Add this to the card front usng dimensionals.  Make 2 butterflies by sponging Sahara Sand on a piece of Confetti White Cardstock, stamp the butterfly from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set in Perfect Plum, ink the lower wings in Perfect Plumand cut out using the Elegant Butterfly punch.   Spray with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  Add one to the front of the card and keep the other for inside the card.

For the middle of the card, take the two 14cm x 10cm Confetti White pieces that you have just finished sponging and stamping.  Adhere to the inside front and back covers of the card.

Adhere the 3cm strip of Perfect plum halfway across the inside front of the card and then halfway across the inside back of the card, making sure that you adhere from the edges into the middle.

Take 2 pieces of the 5.5cm x 8.5cm Confetti White Cardstock and sponge and stamp as before.  I used the Eifel Tower, sentiment and key from the Artistic Etchings stamp set on one piece and the butterflies from the Papillion Potpourri stamp set on the other piece, with the music notes and script stamps as before.  I added an edge by stamping the small flourish from the Established Elegance stamp set around the edges in Perfect Plum.  Adhere to the Sahara Sand, then the Perfect Plum Cardstock.

Take the remaining 2 pieces of 5.5cm x 8.5cm Confetti White Cardstock and sponge in the middle with Sahara Sand and around the edges with Perfect Plum.  Spritz with water, blot and dry.  Add a border around the edges using the small flourish from the Established Elegance stamp set.  On one piece stamp the sentiment from the One in a Million stamp set and add the butterfly that you made earlier (you can leave the butterfly until last if you want).  The other piece is left blank in the middle so that you can write your message on it.  Adhere to the Sahara Sand, then the Perfect Plum Cardstock.

Adhere these 4 pieces to the four sections across the 3cm Perfect Plum Cardstock strip.  The card will fold up nicely and will fit a standard C6 envelope.
