More Wood Textures Cards

Another Wood Textures Designer Series Paper project.

To create these two cards you only need one piece of the  6" x 6" Wood Textured Designer Series Paper.  This is one of those Designer Series Paper Stacks that keep on giving, with 4 sheets each of 12 designs giving you 48 pieces of different wood texture backgrounds.

Card 1

To make this card you need to the following pieces:

Measurements

A4 Early Espresso cardstock cut in half to create the card base
Wood Textures Designer Series Paper 13.8cm x 9.5cm
Very Vanilla cardstock 14.3cm x 10cm (for the inside)
Very Vanilla cardstock 13.8cm x 9.5cm
Very Vanilla cardstock 14.1cm x 9.8cm
Very Vanilla cardstock 1.5cm x 6.5cm for the sentiment
Early Espresso cardstock 14.8cm x 2cm

Technique

Fold card base.

Draw a cutting grid on your Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. When cutting make sure you place the cut pieces in order on a piece of cardstock.  This will make it easier when you come to adhere them in place, as you will know what pieces go where. Also this way you keep the wood grain of the pattern correct.  When all the pieces have been cut out, adhere to the 13.8cm x 9.5cm piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, making sure to leave small gaps between each piece. (TIP:  layout the piece out first before you start adhering so you can make sure that you have all the pieces matched up).  When all glued down, trim off the overhang on the edges and adhere to the 14.1cm x 9.8cm piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Adhere this to the cardfront.

Attach a piece of Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon to a the 2cm x 14.8cm piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  Adhere this to the card front.  Tie the faux bow with another piece of Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon.

Using the Oh So Eclectic stamp set stamp the flowers using Powder Pink and Blushing Bride and the leaves using Old Olive.  Cut these out using the matching Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  Add Wink of Stella to the flowers and adhere the floral arrangement to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment "Thinking of You" onto the 1.5cm x 6.5cm piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Early Espresso.

For the inside of the card stamp extra flowers and leaves and make a small floral arrangement on the bottom of the Very Vanilla card insert.

Card 2

To make this card you need to the following pieces:

Measurements

A4 Early Espresso cardstock cut in half to create the card base
Wood Textures Designer Series Paper 14.8cm x 5.7cm
Very Vanilla cardstock 14.3cm x 10cm (for the inside)
Very Vanilla cardstock 14.8cm x 6.2cm
Very Vanilla cardstock 1.5cm x 6.5cm for the sentiment

Technique

Fold card base.

Adhere the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to the Very Vanilla 14.8cm x 6.2cm mat.   Adhere this to the card front.

Using the Oh So Eclectic stamp set stamp the flowers using Powder Pink and Blushing Bride and the leaves using Old Olive.  Cut these out using the matching Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  Add Wink of Stella to the flowers and adhere the floral arrangement to the card front along with a piece of Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon.  Add 3 Blushing Bride Enamel Dots.

Wood Textures Designer Series Paper

After creating the two cards in the previous post using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and the Eclectic Layers Thinlits, I got to thinking about how else to use the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.

My creative mojo has been on a bit of a hiatus lately so I have given my self a little challenge to see what I can create.  I have selected one each of the 12 patterns in the pack, and after making the first set of cards I realised that you can get a lot of cards from the one paper pack as there are 48 sheets in total, 4 each of the 12 designs.

This set of cards uses the piece of pattern paper with all the logs on it.  I will admit that when I first started using this paper, I thought what am I going to make with this.  I got my inspiration of Paula Dobson who is one of the Artisan Design Team.  I love the colour combination on Paula's card and this is what I have used on my designs.  You can see Paula's card here.

Card 1

To make this card you need to the following pieces:

Template made from a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock 8cm x 14.8cm.  Cut the bottom corners off, measure 4cm up each side and then cut on the diagonal.  You will get a better look if the point of the bottom of the template is not centred, eg offset to oneside.

Measurements

A4 Thick Very Vanilla cardstock cut in half to create the card base
A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock 8cm x 14.8cm (put the template on this piece and draw the diagonal and then cut off the corners)
A piece of Basic Black cardstock 8.3cm x 14.8cm (put the template on this piece making sure to line up the template to the bottom edge, draw the diagonal from the them plate and then cut off the corners)
A piece of Wood Textures DSP 14.8cm x 7cm
Scraps of Very Vanilla and Basic Black cardstock

Technique

Fold card base.

Emboss the Very Vanilla piece with the 'Oh My Stars' Textured Impressions Embossing folder and the Bigshot.  Layer this piece on the Basic Black mat.

Adhere the Wood Textures DSP to the bottom of the card front and then adhere the embossed Very Vanilla with the Basic Black mat to the top of the card front.

Stamp the large leaf from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla cardstock and then stamp the large leaf lined image on top of this using Early Espresso.  Cut out using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

Stamp the small leaf from the Colourful Seasons Stamp Set in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut out using the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.

Cut out a lined leaf image using Basic Black cardstock and the die from the Seaonal Layers Thinlits.

Layer the leaf pieces together and adhere to the card front.  Add a Linen Thread bow.

Cut the word 'Happy' using the Happy Birthday Thinlits and Basic Black cardstock.  Stamp the sentiment 'Birthday' using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, Basic Black Archival Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Adhere these to the card front.

Eclectic Layers

I have finally had a play with the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.

I have used a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper behind the Whisper White cardstock piece.  The flowers have been stamped with Cajun Craze and the leaves with Old Olive.  A Copper Trim bow was added to finish along with some Copper sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.

To make this card you need to the following pieces:

Measurements

A4 Thick Whisper White cardstock cut in half lenthways to create the card base
A piece of Whisper White cardstock 8cm x 14.8cm
A piece of Wood Textures DSP 10.5cm x 14.8cm
Scraps of Whisper White cardstock to stamp the flowers and leaves

Technique

Fold card base.

Adhere the piece of Wood Textures DSP to the card base.

Stamp 2 large flowers (one for the inside) and 3 small flowers (one for the inside). This is a 2 step stamping process, no need to stamp off as the stamps have a watercolour effect to them.

Stamp 3 sets of leaves (one for the inside). Cut out the stamped images using the matching Eclectic Layers Thinlits.

Using the diamond decorative die cut out the diamond decorative centre on the piece of 8cm x 14.8cm Whisper White cardstock.   Stamp the sentiment using Old Olive on the top right corner. I have used the Rose Wonder stamp set for the Thank You sentiment.  You can use any sentiment that you wish.  Adhere this panel to the card front on top of the Wood Textures DSP.

Arrange the flowers and leaves on the card front and adhere in place.  Add the Copper Trim bow and the Copper sequins to finish the card front.

For the inside arrange a small floral arrangement in the bottom right corner and adhere in place.

I had a 4.9cm x 14.8cm piece of the Wood Texture DPS left over from the 1st card, so using the same card sketch, some texture paste I created a second card.  This way I did not have any small strips of DSP laying around. The measurements for this card are the same as the 1st card.

The stamp sets used are Label Me Pretty and Oh So Eclectic along with the Label Punch and the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.
