Vintage Blue

Being so hot here in Perth today, I stayed indoors and played at my craft table.  These are the three cards that I made along the same theme, using the "Shop Around" Stampin' Wheel, the some new goodies from the new Occasions Catalogue.

Stamped Buttons

For the Mojo Monday Challenge this week I made the buttons on my card using the Simply Pressed Clay and the Buttons mold.  Once air dried, I stamped the buttons with the Music Notes Wheel and sponged on some Soft Suede ink.

The Challenge is based on this sketch.

I have used a colour scheme of Naturals White, Basic Black and Cajun Craze.  I embossed the Basic Black Core'dinations card with the Woodgrain embossing folder.   Stamp sets used "Itty Bitty Banners", "Fabulous Florets" and "Measuring Stick" Stampin Wheel.

Happy Circles

What a challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts, using the colours of Gold, Island Indigo and Whisper White.  I must admit that I had some trouble with it, taking 4 days to finish my card.  I had several false starts before deciding on using the circle punches and the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder to make the background.

I have used Brushed Gold as my gold paper card base and in the circles, with Island Indigo DSP for the other circles.  The sentiment is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set.

Shabby Butterflies

It is back to work for me tomorrow after having a two week break so I have been getting in as much card making as I can these last two weeks.

I love the colour challenge this week at The Shabby Tea Rooms which is based on the colours Black, Kraft and White/Cream with this terrific picture as inspiration.

I have used the stamp sets "Backyard Basics" and "That's the Ticket" with the co-ordinating dies and punch, with the DSP from the Modern Medley Paper Pack.

Shades of Gray with a Touch of Blue

Was I ever out of my comfort zone today when I made my card for the Color Throwdown Challenge, using the colours of Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate and Whisper White.  I am really pleased with my finished card (it has a beautiful shimmer that does not show up in the photo), and I will certainly be using these colours together in the future.

I made the background by sponging Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray ink on Whisper White cardstock, spritzing with water to blend the colours.  Once this was dry I stamped on images from the Secret Garden, Clockworks stamp sets and the Music Notes Stampin' Wheel using Smoky Slate.  I then misted this with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz to give a lovely shimmer to the finish.

The butterfly is from the Backyard Basics stamp set, embossed in White on Smoky Slate cardstock.  I created a small circle the same as the main background for underneath the butterfly on the tag from the Chalk Talk stamp set.

Vintage Butterflies

I recently found some cards made with luggage tags by Kerry Lawson.  I really liked the idea of using a tag on the card as a focal point so with Kerry's cards as inspiration, I changed things up a bit and made them Stampin' Up style.

I have used a basic colour scheme of Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Naturals White, with some Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Baked Brown Sugar ink add in as extras.

The butterflies were made by embossing with Early Espresso on Crushed Curry cardstock and then coloured using a Blender Pen and Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Ink pads.  The butterfly image is from "Backyard Basics" stamp set and was cut out using the co-ordinating die.  The colour of the Early Espresso DSP from the Neutrals Paper Stack was changed by sponging Crushed Curry over it to change the colour white to the Crushed Curry colour to match our card.  The Washi Tape is from the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape pack.  The cards were finished off with Early Espresso Candy Dots and a Linen Thread bow with an Early Espresso button.

Six Sided Sampler

Happy New Year everyone.

I had a quiet New Years Day at home with my family and I had some time to play this afternoon.
I made 3 cards using the "Six Sided Sampler" stamp set and matching punch.  The colour scheme is Basic Black and Baked Brown Sugar.  I wanted to have a masculine feel to my cards and I just adore these two colours together.

These are the cards.

Card 1

I used the Stripes embossing folder to create the black gingham background piece.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set, black button and Linen Thread to finish.  Other tools used were the Hexagon Punch with the matching stamp set "Six Sided Sampler".

Card 2

The tools I used are the Honeycomb embossing folder, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch, Hexagon punch, small circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 1/2" Circle punch, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch,  along with stamps "Six Sided Sampler", "Music Notes" Wheel, "Simply Serif Mini Alphabet" and "Fabulous Phrases", a piece of
Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon was added to finish off the card.

Card 3

The background was made by stamping and punching out the shapes using the "Six Sided Sampler" stamp set and matching Hexagon punch, then sticking them down on a piece of card cut to size.  Other tools used are Chevron Border punch, embossing folder from the new Sale-a-bration catalogue, Ticket Duo Builder punch and matching stamp set "That's the Ticket", with finishing touches Burlap Ribbon.
