Pals Paper Arts #PPA137 Sketch Challenge - Mr & Mrs

The flowers that can be made with the Floral Fusion Sizzlit Die are numerous.  I have been playing today to see what other flowers I could make and I really liked the flowers I have used on this card.  They were made by cutting 2 layers of each size of the Floral Fusion Die, spritzing with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, let dry a little and then scrunch them up individually and then flatten them out slightly  Layer them up 2 large, 2 medium and 2 small, off setting the petals as you go, and put a small brad in the middle to hold them together.  Form the flower up around the brad until you are happy with the shape of your flower.  Just a tip to be careful when you are forming the flower up as the cardstock is still damp and can tear easily.

The sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts this week is based on the following sketch

PPA137

The colour scheme is Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler.   Stamp sets used are "Happiness Shared", "Tiny Tags" and Music Note Wheel.

The Paper Players Challenge #101 - "Best Wishes"

I was blog hopping today and came across some cute little flowers created by Nance Leedy using the Floral Fusion Sizzlit Die.  The sketch from The Paper Players Challenge this week I really like so I thought I would make a card for this challenge using the flowers I created using the Floral Fusion Sizzlit Die.

The colour scheme I have used is Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake.  Nance stamped the Crumb Cake flowers with the "En Francais" stamp before layering them together, this gives them a little more definition.

Simply Stampin' Challenge #65 - For Everything You Do For Me

It is a colour challenge at Simply Stampin' Challenge this week.  The colour combination is Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White.

All products used on this card are from Stampin' Up with the stamp sets used being Language of Friendship and Petite Pairs.  The little pearl flowers I made using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and Basic Jewel Pearls.

Dymanic Duos #8 {Monochromatic Colours}

Hey Debra, where do you think I got the inspiration for this card from, hehe.  I Stampin' Upified it (a new word for the dictionary).

The challenge this week at Dynamic Duos is Monochromatic using the colours River Rock and Always Artichoke. Only the two colours, otherwise known as "The Dynamic Duo", may be used for the project.  Neutrals such as black, white, vanilla, skin colours and kraft are also welcome.

I used the masking technique on this card, sponging the River Rock and Always Artichoke ink and then used the Music Note Wheel with Basic Black.  The guitar is from the "Grunge Rock" stamp set and the sentiment is from the "Perfect Words" stamp set.  Finishing touch of Linen thread with a black button.

Mojo Monday #246

The sketch at Mojo Monday was more than a challenge for me this week.  I have pondered for days on how to make my card for this challenge.

I took inspiraton from Mary Fish and flipped the sketch which suited the card I decided to make.  I have used the colour scheme of Basic Black and Crumb Cake with the Mocha Morning Specialty DSP.  The flocked paper in this DPS gives such a lush finish to cards.  Beneath the layered butterflies there is scalloped square which you can just see.

Simply Stampin' Challenge Top 3 - The Open Seas

My card made the Top 3 at Simply Stampin' Challenge this week.  I made the Lifeboy ring using circle punches, bakers twine and Stampin' Write Markers. The stamp set I used from Stampin' Up is "The Open Sea".  The Tall Ships stamp in this set is a fav of mine. Must remind me of my convict heritage, yep the English send my Irish ancestors over the seas for stealing and killing a cow.  Apparently they had a good feed and shared it around in the village before they were caught and convicted to 10 years transportation to Australia, that was back in 1850.

Freshly Made Sketches #40 - Petunia Flowers

I just had to have a go at making these flowers that Darlene Plotinski show cased in a tutorial on her blog.  Darlene calls them petunias, not too sure if they look like petunias but I loved the look of the finished flower.  The petals were made using the Butterfly punch and the stamens were made using bakers twine and glitter.

I made two cards with the flowers, using the colour scheme of Perfect Plum, Sahara Sand, Old Olive and Whisper White.

The first card I have entered into the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches based on the following sketch:

The second card was just for the fun of it.  I wanted to have a go at making the square shape using the Framed Tulips embossing folder.  It looked complicated but was quite easy to do following the tutorial I found.

Simply Stampin' Challenge #64 - The Open Seas

My card for the challenge at Simply Stampin' Challenge this week was inspired by a one layered card created by Jenny Chilton.  Jenny shared this card with us at a recent stamp club get together and I have made the centre panel based on Jenny's design.

The challenge is based on the following sketch

Colours used are Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Marina Mist and Early Espresso with the stamp set "The Open Seas".

Dynamic Duos #7 - Melon Mambo & Basic Black

The colour challenge this week at Dynamic Duos is Melon Mambo and Basic Black with a desert option of ribbon.

I had several goes at making a card for this challenge until I has happy with my finished card.  I love the basic black scallop dots ribbon so I have also gone for the desert option in the challenge.

Simply Stampin' Challenge - Top 3

I made the Top 3 this week at the Simply Stampin' Challenge Theme Week - Regally Royal with my swing card.  This was my first attempt at making a swing card and I really like the effect of the finished card.

The Paper Players Challenge - Tulips Flower Pot

Basic Grey, Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade are the colours for the challenge this week at The Paper Players.

I tried a bit of punch art to make my card for the challenge this week.  The flower pot was made using the 1 3/8" square punch which I then cut down into the shape of the pot and the top of the pot was made using the Word Window punch.  The tulip flowers were made using the Bird Builder punch, for the branches I cut the top leaf off and layered the tulip flower behind the leaves to form a calix for the flower.  The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set.

Simply Stampin' Challenge Theme Week - Regally Royal

The extreme storm front is in full swing here in Perth, Western Australia.  The winds are howling, and they are so strong they keep blowing the front door open.  A thunder storm has just passed through with huge wind gusts and heavy rain.  There has been a heap of clattering noises outside, but so far the roof is still on the house.  We still have about four hours to go before the storm front moves through, and as I will probably not get much sleep tonight I decided to make cards instead.  In case you a wondering I am using my laptop with the battery, not connected to the electricity.  We still have power but about 80,000 poor soles in the south west region of Western Australia are still without power, most of them have been without power since Sunday when the first extreme weather event passed through the region and the tornado hit the suburbs of Dianella and Morley in Perth.

This card is for the challenge at Simply Stampin' Challenge which is Regally Royal. I have made a swing card.  This is the first time that I have made a swing card and found it quite difficult to photograph it to get the full effect of the card.

All products are from Stampin' Up, I added a touch or "Royal" by adding a crown to the swing portion of the card.

Just Add Ink #121 - Just Add Pearls

Very wet, windy and miserable in Perth, Western Australia today.  Just ideal weather to be inside playing with paper, ink and glue and making some cards without feeling guilty that you should be outside doing the gardening.

I have finally finished re-organising my crafting space and it is now a lot easier to find things when they are in storage cupboards instead of cardboard boxes and sorted into the same category and all in the same container.  All the storage containers are labelled, so I now know where everything is (well sort of, I just have to open the cupboard doors and peruse until I find what I am after).

Being such an ideal day to papercraft, I have entered the challenge this week at Just Add Ink which is to just add pearls.

I have used the colours of Pool Party and Basic Black and created a piece of Faux Patina, with Whisper White cardstock, Basic Black and Pool Party ink and gold embossing powder, which I used as my backgound paper along with a piece of Basic Black DSP. The border around the oval was made using the Doily Triple Layer punch an idea that Teneale Williams showed on her blog.  I thought it was a great idea and it created a lacey effect to set off the oval.

Simply Stampin' Challenge #62 - Colour

For the challenge this week at Simply Stampin's Challenge I decided to have a go at making a card with a rectangle aperture.  This was done using the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" square punches from Stampin' Up.

The colour challenge is to use the following colours:

When I saw this colour combination, I had serious doubt as to whether I could create a card that was not too in your face, but I guess that what a challenge is all about.  The stamp sets used are Just Believe, Nature Walk and Teeny Tiny Sentiments from Stampin' Up.

The Very Vanilla top piece has been embossed using the Finial Press embossng folder, this has been layered onto a piece of Tangerine Tango DSP and then adhered to the Cherry Cobbler base card.

The butterfly from the Nature Walk stamp set was coloured with Stampin' Write Markers.  I needed to bring the Tangerine Tango into the card and decided that a little touch of this colour on the wings of the butterfly would work okay.

A piece of Tangerine Tango DSP has been punched with the Scalloped Edge Border Punch and adhered to the bottom of the Very Vanilla inside the card.

Simply Stampin' Sketch Challenge Top 3

I made the Top 3 with my card at this week's Simply Stampin' Sketch Challenge.

I was late checking to see how my creation went, as I have been on a "Home Grown Retreat" this weekend with a bunch of friends, we just had a retreat at a friends house and saved the cost of going away.  As it is a long weekend here in Western Australia to celebrate "WA Day", it used to be called "Foundation Day", we thought  that we would all get together and have a weekend of stampin, paintin, creatin, sharin, eatin, drinkin (not too much), chatin and laughin.  We had a great time catching up with all our latest news and lots of gossip was to be had (what else would you expect with 7 ladies together for 3 days).  I think I will be early to bed tonight, but I still have to unpack the car before I do anything.
