Hi everyone, sharing one of the projects from my September card class, which is a Cascade Card.
How to make this card
Base 24cm x 10.5cm scored at 2.5, 5, 19 & 21.5cm
Mechanism 6.5cm x 7.5cm scored on the 6.5cm side at 2 & 4.5cm (x 2)
Large Panels 7cm x 9cm (x2)
Small Panels 5.5cm x 7.5cm (x2)
DSP Large Panels 6.5cm x 8.5cm (x2)
DSP Small Panels 5cm x 7cm (x2)
Inside 13.5cm x 10cm
Technique
1. Measure down 1.5cm from top edge on both side and cut to the first score line and then cut on the diagonal to the top of the 2nd score line.
2. Fold mechanism pieces into valley, mountain & valley folds to form a zig zag shape (Note: the ends are shorter than the middle to prevent ‘bulk’ when attached to the card).
3. Adhere the mechanisms in place on both sides by lining up the bottom edges and place the folded edge so it is just slightly over the outside edge of the base. This will allow the panels to line up neatly with the side edges of the card.
4. Add DSP to the panels then adhere the panels in place. TIP: is it easier to add adhesive to the mechanism rather than onto the back of the panel.
5. Stamp the tree using Mossy Meadow and die cut. Adhere to the front right hand side panel using dimensionals.
6. Die cut the pieces from Gold Foil Sheet for the bow and the star. Adhere the bow pieces together using glue dots, curling the pieces of the bow that fold over with the bone folder. Adhere the bow to the front left hand side panel using a glue dot and add the star to the tree.
7. Stamp Merry Christmas on Very Vanilla cardstock using Mossy Meadow ink and cut out. Back these pieces onto Old Olive cardstock and adhere to the front panels. Using dimensionals on Merry, Christmas is adhered with glue or tape.
8. For the inside, stamp the small trees on the bottom left corner using Mossy Meadow ink. Adhere this pieces to the card inside.
I hope you enjoyed this cascading card.
