Stash Busting Saturday - Birthday Sparkle Kit

Hi everyone, I must apologise being a day late in posting this week's Stash Busting Saturday cards.  I am holding a fundraiser event for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at the end of June, and I was merrily creating for that and forgot to do my post.

For this week's Stash Buster I have selected the Birthday Sparkle Kit. In the kit you get supplies to make 6 cards, 3 each of 2 designs and 6 tags, 3 each of 2 designs.  I made one set of the cards as per the kit, change one set up slightly and made the 6 tags into cards.

This is what I made.

The first card is as per the kit.  Super quick and easy and a great layout and design.  The middle pieces that are removed from the Kraft Cardstock frame I used on my next card.

For this card I used the cupcake tag.  I trimmed off the little tag piece and created the cupcake as per the kit.  I then used the centre pieces from Card 1 and trimmed these into three 1" x 2 5/8 pieces.  These three pieces were adhered to the embossed background, a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper (this is retired) cut at 4" x 1 3/4" adhered over this and then the cupcake adhered to this.  The sentiment I created using the leftover bits in the kit.   I just realised I forgot to put the bakers twine bow on the sentiment panel but I am sure you can picture what it would look like (lol).

For this card I added the little Rabbit from the Playing in the Rain stamp set.  I coloured him using Wild Wheat Dark & Light and Crumb Cake Dark & Light Stampin' Blends.  I also change the layout of the balloons slightly.

For my final card I used the other tag in kit.  I made the tag as per the kit but added the little Rabbit from the Playing in the Rain stamp set and some Designer Series Paper from the Country Lace Designer Series 12" x 12" Paper Pack.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these alternative cards made using the Birthday Sparkle Kit.

April Class Project 2

Hi everyone, sharing another project from April's card class.

This card uses the Playing in the Rain stamp set and dies and the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper.

This card is a CASE from a card by Inge Groot. You can see Inge's card here.  I was looking for some inspiration to use the Playing in the Rain stamp set and dies and came across Inge's card which uses other products, but I loved the layout so just had to give it a try.  I am happy with the finished card and the ladies at card class really enjoyed making this one.

I hope you enjoyed this project.

Turtle Fun - 6" x 6" One Sheet Wonder

Hi everyone, sharing 3 cards I made from one sheet of 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.

I wanted to use the Neutrals 6" x 6" Paper Assortment and decided to use a sheet of the Pecan Pie pattern paper.  The stamp set and die set of my choice was Playing in the Rain as I wanted to use the little Turtle on my cards.

Next decision was what colour to make my Turtles?  Some research was done as I really had no idea what colour Turtles were. Well, they come in all colours, so I decided to colour my little Turtles using Pecan Pie and Crushed Curry Stampin' Blends to match the pattern paper.  A touch of Bubble Bath was added on the flowers.

I kept the embellishments the same, using the Nested Essential Dies for the stitched rectangle and the Stylish Shapes Dies for the sentiment circle.  Some Gold Brushed Metallic Dots and a Basic White Bakers Twine bow were added to finish the cards.

These are the 3 cards I made.

Card 1

For this card I cut one of the pieces of 3 1/2" x 3" pattern paper on the long edge into 1/2", 3/4", 1" and 1 1/4" strips.  These were adhered on top of a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock 2 3/4" x 4 3/8" that had been adhered to a Basic White cardbase.

Card 2

For this card I used the 6" x 2 1/2" piece of patterned paper.  There will be a small overhand, so just trim this off.  The Crushed Currey cardstock strip was 3/8" wide.

Card 3

For this card I embossed a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and adhere this to the card front on an angle.  The other piece of 3 1/2" x 3" piece of patterned paper was adhered on top of this, also on an angle.  The embellishment Turtle piece was adhered on top of this.

Cutting Guide

This is the cutting guide for the 6" X 6" piece of patterned paper.
I hope you enjoyed these 3 cards.

February Card Class Project 3

Hi everyone, sharing the little Easter Egg bag project from my February card class.

When I started out designing this I realised that I did not have any current Easter stamps, Yikes!  So I had to adapt to what I had in my stash.  I have used the bunny from the Playing in the Rain stamp set, stamped with Black Memento ink and coloured using Light and Dark Calypso Coral, Dark Petal Pink and Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.

The Designer Series Paper is from the "A Little Latte" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper which is available as an Online Exclusive.

The little tag was created using the Tailor Made Tags dies and the 'Happy Easter' is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set that has been retired for quite sometime (told you I had to adapt to use what I had, lol).  This stamp set was the first stamp set that I purchased from Stampin' Up! and I still use it in my card making to this day.

To make this Easter Egg basket you will need:

Measurements

Lemon Lolly cardstock 2 3/4" x 2"
Lemon Lolly cardstock 2 1/2" x 6"
Lemon Lolly cardstock 1/2" x 5" (this is for the handle)
Designer Series Paper 1 3/4" x 6"

Technique

Score the 2 1/4" x 2" piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock on all sides at 1/2"  Snip on the lines as detailed in the diagram below

Fold and burnish all the score lines.  Fold the corners in place to form the bag base (it will be a rectangle box like base) and adhere in place.

Take the 2 1/2" x 6" piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock and die cut the very top using the Zig Zag die from the Basic Border Dies.

Adhere the piece of Designer Series Paper to the Lemon Lolly cardstock die cut piece, leaving a small 1/8" gap at the bottom.  I did use my one folder to slightly curl this piece and the handle as it makes it easier to form them into place.

Put Tear and Tape or Stampin' Seal+ on the reverse side of the Designer Series Paper on the bottom edge and one side edge.  Adhere to the bag base, starting in the middle of one of the long edges.  If you start on the corner it will keep popping open which you do not want.  Adhere the handle in place.

Add you coloured and die cut Bunny and the tag to finish. Oh do not forget the Easter Eggs.  This little bag holds 4 small sold eggs and 2 slightly larger eggs which have the carmel or turkish delight filling.

I hope you enjoyed this little Easter project.

Stash Busting Saturday - Sunny Days 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper

Hi everyone, it is time for another 'Stash Busting Saturday' show and tell.

I selected the Sunny Days 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper for this week's Stash Buster.  This Designer Series Paper is one of the free Sale-A-Bration items if you place a qualify order of $90 or more.

As soon as I saw the sheet with the clouds and rain drops on the bottom I immediately thought of the Playing In The Rain stamp set and dies. I thought I would dust this set off the shelf and see what I could create.

I made 8 cards using two strips of 10.2cm x 30.5cm patterned paper with the rain drops from the bottom section of two of the sheets of patterned paper in the paper pack.  These strips I cut into 8 pieces 7.6cm wide.

This is what I created.

I coloured the fox and clouds using Stampin' Blends.  The colours I used are Pool Party Light and Dark, Pecan Pie Light and Dark and Smoky Slate Light and Dark.  I also used a piece of the Rainbow Design pattern paper from the same Sunny Days paper pack and also a small piece of black and white paper from the Zoo Crew paper pack.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these 'Stash Busting Saturday' cards as much as I enjoyed creating them.

The background was lightly coloured using Balmy Blue and Lemon Lime Twist which was added using Blending Brushes.

I love this little Turtle.  I coloured him or her using Old Olive Dark and Light Stampin' Blends.  The flowers were coloured using Flirty Flamingo Dark, Daffodil Delight Dark and Old Olive Light Stampin' Blends.

Pagoda Shaped Easter Box

Hi everyone, sharing a little Easter project.  I cased the Pagoda Shaped box from Pootles (Sam Hammond) which you can find here

I wanted a small Easter box, so decorated the box using the Country Gingham Designer Series Paper and the small flower image from the Playing in the Rain stamp set.  This was die cut using the Playing in the Rain Dies after it was coloured using Light Sweet Sorbert, Dark Daffodil Delight and Dark Parakeet Party Stampin' Blends.

This little box holds about 8 small Easter Eggs.

I hope you enjoyed this project.

Rain or Shine

Hi everyone, sharing the cards I made using products from the Rain or Shine Suite.

I love the images in the Playing in the Rain stamp set, just perfect for colouring.  If colouring is not your thing then you can die cut or fuzzy cut some of the images from the Rain or Shine 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Hope you enjoyed these projects.
