Faux Patina

Splitcoaststampers Weekly Inkling #308 this week shows Angie Leach's tutorial on "Faux Patina".  What an amazing technique.  In the tutorial Angie used the colours of Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso which created a beautiful finish.

This is my sample of the "Faux Pantina" technique using Bravo Burgundy, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso and gold embossing powder before I cut it up and made my card.  It looked too pretty to cut up, but I did and made 3 amazing cards (I think they are amazing anyway) which I have entered into challenges.  I know I will be using this technique in the future and experimenting with different colour combinations.

    1. Hi Suzie

To make the Faux Patina I have used the Stampin' Up Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, inked with Crumb Cake and embossed on Whisper White cardstock. I then sponged Bravo Burgundy, then Always Artichoke and then Early Espresso. Let this dry a bit before inking lightly with Versamark and covering with gold embossing folder. You do not want a lot of gold so if you put too much on, then just brush it off. Using your heat gun, emboss. If you need more gold just repeat this last step. Voila, you now have a piece of "Faux Patina". You can use any colours, you just need a light neutral like Crumb Cake, 2 medium colours and 1 dark colour like Early Expresso or Basic Black. Hopefully this makes sense. Cheers Carolyn
