It's a Beautiful Day

I just love the Stampin' Up! colour names, sometimes I feel like I am having a feast while stamping or just putting a bit of glitz and glam on.  The colour I have used on my card is Lovely Lipstick, isn't it just gorgeous and definitely in the glitz and glam category.

Lovely Lipstick is one of the new 2018-2020 In-colours.   The In-colours come in a 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Pack with 40 sheets: 4 each of 2 double-sided designs in five colours.

The stamp set is 'Love What You Do'.  I have off stamped the Lovely Lipstick background and also the flowers to give a slightly lighter shade.  The finishing touches are the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls and Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.

Did you notice the cross-stitched border on the Lovely Lipstick cardstock strip behind the centre panel? This was done using the new Stitched Labels Framelits.

All these products are available from tomorrow with the launch of the new catalogue.

Seasonal Birthday

One of my favourite paper packs is the Wood Textures 6" x 6". I had these 3cm strips left over from a previous project and I was wanting to use them up. I don't know if you are like me but I cannot throw away any paper scraps, I keep them for just in case and I end up with quite a pile of them.

I gave myself a challenge to use my left over pieces of cardstock and patterned paper to create this card.

I have used the Colourful Seasons stamp set, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Happy Birthday Thinlits and the Ticket Tear Border Punch.

I created a small tag using the Corrugated Elements and the Touches of Nature Elements which I layered on top of the leaves.  A Linen Thread Bow was added to the top of the tag.  A few Copper Sequins from the Metallic Sequins Assortment finish the card.

Happy 12th Birthday

My nephew Will turns 12 today, he is a pretty amazing kid so I made him a special card.

The background was created using an emboss resist technique and Brusho Crystal Colours.  I stamped the Sheet Music image using Versmark ink onto a piece of Watercolour Paper and then heat embossed with White Embossing powder.  I added the Brusho Crystal Colours and then spritz with water.

I had a bit of fun mixing up stamp sets, using an image from this one, a sentiment from this one and a few die cuts.

Under the Sea

I just could not resist making another card using the new Sea of Textures Stamp Set and the Under the Sea Thinlits and I was fortunate enough to present at OnStage here in Perth.  This card is very similar to several I have made previously, I borrowed a little idea from each card for this one.

When I made this card a few weeks ago my pre-order was still coming across the Nullabor Plain so I have used a few retiring colours, Marina Mist and Soft Sky however these can easily be substituted for Balmy Blue and Soft Sea Foam.

For the non Australians who have no idea what I am talking about, the Nullabor Plain is the big expanse of flat, almost treeless, arid and semi arid country of southern Australia.  It is the world's largest single exposure of limestone beckrock and occupies an area of about 200,000 square kilometres (77,000 sq miles). At its widest point, it stretches about 1,100 kilometres (684 miles) from east to west across the border between the states of South Australia and Western Australia (Wikipedia's definition) (That is the end of the geography lesson today.)  Anyway it takes a week or sometimes longer for our little brown boxes to cross from Sydney, New South Wales to Perth, Western Australia.

To make this card, on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock sponge Marina Mist ink on the top and Night of Navy ink on the bottom.  Spritz with water and until reasonably wet and drop on a heap of Rock Salt.  Allow to sit for about 10 minutes before drying with a heat gun.  Once dry brush off the Rock Salt.

Stamp the Sea Grass image using Marina Mist across the bottom half of the card, also stamp the two Coral images.  Adhere this piece to the Whisper White, then the Crumb Cake and then to the card base.

Stamp the Octopus using Night of Navy and die cut.  Stamp the Small Coral using Soft Sky ink on Soft Sky cardstock and die cut.

Die cut a Marina Mist piece of long coral, and two Sand Dollars from Crumb Cake cardstock.

Die cut a Fishing Net from Crumb Cake cardstock.

Layer all the images and adhere to the card front.

Stamp Happy Birthday (this is not from the Sea of Textures Stamp Set) on Whisper White using Night of Navy ink, die cut using the Stitched Shape Framelits.  Layer onto a Scalloped Oval die cut using the Layering Oval Framelits.  Adhere to the card front using dimensionals.

For the inside sponge the bottom corner using the Marina Mist and Night of Navy ink and stamp the Sea Grass and Small Coral using Marina Mist.

Saying Goodbye

I am sorry to see the Move Me Thinlits retiring as I just love the Butterfly in this set.   As it is retiring I thought that I would give it a little last hurrah!

I created the background using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, Embossing Paste and Prussian Blue Brusho Crystal Colour.  This is a fun technique where you sprinkle the Brusho Crystal Colour onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, lay on the Decorative Mask and the apply the Embossing Paste.  The Embossing Paste picks up the colour as you move it around.

The background cardstock is Dapper Denim but it looks a different blue in my photo, I have tried adjusting it but it did not work so I just left it as is.

Silver Gable Box

The Silver Gable Boxes are just gorgeous and so easy to decorate for a quick little gift box or party favour.

I used the Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper which was part of the recent Sale-a-bration promotion.

The tag was made using the Sweet Cake Framelits, Layering Circle Framelits and Stitched Shaped Framelits.  The sentiment is from the Cake Soiree stamp set.  A finishing touch at the top of the tag is the Petal Passion Embellishments with a Silver Baker's Twine bow.

The Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper is no longer available however all the other products you can still purchase.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful, terrific, gorgeous, beautiful Mums who make our lives so special.

I am just off to see my Mum at the Nursing Home, have lunch with her and hang out for the rest of the day.

I think my Mum is a pretty special lady so I wanted to make her a pretty card.  I have used the Share What You Love Speciality Designer Series Paper and one of the sections from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper (I spritz this with Powder Pink).

I used a card base of Powder Pink and fussy cut the flowers from the patterned paper, added some Mossy Meadow leaves and Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon along with the 'Happy Mother's Day' sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Archival and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch.

One Wild Ride

I just love a new technique, and the Black Ice Technique by Melissa Kerman is just gorgeous.  Melissa has a video on Youtube that you can find here on how to actually do this technique.

For my card I have used the One Wild Ride stamp set, with a colour scheme of Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Silver and Dapper Denim.

I did a little background stamping on the side of my card base using Basic Black ink, the Gravel Image and the Route 66 image.

The Black Ice Technique is on the middle panel where I have stamped the motorbike.  This is such a fun technique and the finished effect is amazing.
